But looks is only part of it, and a lot of men (especially ones who use a 10-scale to describe physical attractiveness) don't have a fucking clue what role looks actually play in how women choose men.

It's not that looks don't matter; they definitely do. But any given woman's range of what's attractive is going to be much broader and more flexible than any given man's. A not-that-attractive guy with a great personality can become attractive to a woman, once she gets to know him, but I never see that happening the other way around. That's why there's a lot of fat, ugly, slovenly, willfully unattractive women out there, bitter because no man has come along and fallen in love with them for their allegedly amazing personalities. They have no clue how men work, and are mad because they don't work like women do.

So that's why lots of ugly, fat, and visibly disabled guys still manage to get laid, get girlfriends, and get married, and to reasonably attractive women, while ugly, fat, and visibly disabled women end up with low-tier men, or else remain catladies writing fanfiction as cope.

If this guy had a decent personality, and wasn't mentally defective in some crucial way, he would have at least got laid, and probably had a girlfriend by now. So, not wanting to be prey, women are constantly on the lookout for predators—many of whom look harmless and ineffectual, and not predatory at all (especially to other men). It's not even conscious, most of the time, and most women would have a very hard time pinpointing what, exactly, is so "off" about a particular man. But when a woman meets a man, and gets creepvibe off him, there's a reason for it. Something in his body language, in his choice of words, in the way he looks at her sets her creepdar pinging, and she's going to back the fuck away and reject him.

When a man keeps getting rejected over and over again, and no woman shows any interest in him at all, it's often because he's putting out signals that read "predator." Maybe he's not immediately dangerous, but he's not seeing women as fully human, or there's some anger there he can't fully hide, or there's some burden he has that he's looking to unload on the first woman who will take it. He may not kill her, or ever lay a hand on her, but maybe he'll be a manipulative emotional vampire who sucks her dry, and damned right she's going to reject that, too.

Most women don't want to get laid by whatever random guy wants them; they want to be loved, by a man they can count on, who loves them. Having sex is part of that, but sex is not the goal.
