Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

I have heard that "pleasant" means different things in different specialties. Evidently sometimes it just means A/O x3, but other times it indicates that the patient isn't a total whackadoo who might come back with a gun. Thoughts? Here's a blog post and a Reddit discussion about the issue.
In the hospital here, it generally means nothing. It's when it's not there.
If they leave it out, it means something is awry so be alert.

I wonder what other genetic conditions you could say that about without people thinking you are insane… self diagnosis for cf? Self diagnosis for trisomy? It just doesn’t feel the same.
You should totally check out the thread on Anna Johnson/The Fit Vegan Ginger.

yes, yes, 1000x yes!

I know there’s been an influx of visitors to the Beauty Parlour since the munch snark shut down, and I highly recommend every new person here interested in munchie antics read her thread in its entirety. TFVG is hands down one of my favorite cows.

I was actually thinking of Anna when I wrote that. While it’s fairly obvious to us she is a liar on many counts, she always claims that her doctors or genetics or w/e diagnosed her or treat her. If she just said “self diagnose your cystic fibrosis and then get a wheelchair!” (ala Junebug) I can’t imagine people just being fine with that. Because that would be super dangerous. Then again there’s a lot of Anna content I can’t believe people are fine with now so maybe she could start claiming magic lights diagnosed her and people would be into it?

I thought self diagnosis for autism was bonkers, back in the time of innocence, 2011 or so.

But here we are. #ActuallyAutistic

The Epic version I'm familiar with shows EVERYTHING in MyChart, if that's what you mean. If anyone writes a note, the patient can see it. It's really not good for anyone, including the patient.
You can deselect “share with patient” on some notes in EPIC and some in-baskets…but they can fucking subpoena secure chats so watch out or talk smack about them without attaching their info. Lost a good colleague because an assshole who claimed torsemide helped her “swelling” i.e fat ass cankles was able to read these.

What are these munchies going to do when a genetic marker for hEDS is found? It's only a matter of time.
Considering most of them were diagnosed via chiropractor or private pay quack or are just lying, I assume they will just continue on with their LARP.

The number of people fighting to get their self diagnosed schizophrenia professionally recognized without quitting weed is surprising.

And it is a trend that refuses to die. A lot of people do try to get a diagnosis, but judging by their reaction when I tell them they aren't fucking autistic, they are still going to use all the trendy hashtags and make Tiktoks about their sooper serious sensory issues, that self diagnosis is totes valid and how therapy is the devil.

Btw, I have a question about service dogs. I am a Eurofag and apart from seeing eye dogs, Service Dogs aren't as omnipresent here (yet).
Here is my question: A key component for guide dogs is that they are not permanently on duty. As long as they are wearing their harness, they are at work and have to be on their best behaviour. Once the harness is off however, they are just normal dogs, usually with an above average need for exercise.
The abused creatures of the munch bunch seem to be working 24/7 and it seems to be a-ok (judging by the comments on their Insta). Is that normal in the US?

I know that their dogs are fake and don't do shit, but I was wondering if there are legit service dogs that are on a schedule like this.

And something I forgot about in my last Chelsea post, but she says she has an appointment with Dr. Henderson in September, so maybe we'll get a spine fusion saga in the future.

The way Dr. Henderson works is he gets you to do the upright imaging, calls you to tell you that you've got marked instability, possibly hEDS, and you need to come in for a consult. When the victim gets to his office it's either emergency surgery or a total 180. I don't think the guy even looks at the films before asking his victims to come see him.

That's just the latest example. I've read at least ten accounts just like this. All I can figure is that he's able to do so many surgeries w/o medical board intervention is because anterior neck surgery is low risk for complications.

Can someone remind me the insta handle of eds Angie who was a super Christian and the worst person on earth? I am wondering what the really sad thing was. I was guessing divorce but then munchsnark bit the dust.
@hope_essentials

It seems the “traumatic event” was her husband recognizing her helplessness was bullshit & going back to work. She’s posting less, had her tube removed, & seems to be munching a bit less. She’s still a shitty person with shitty views, though.

There are some that are response trained for specific tasks for people with severe mobility issues or deafness. Mobility aid dogs are actually really useful for people with CP and similar diseases. They can be trained to open doors, retrieve dropped objects, and make people more independent.

Hearing dogs are falling more out of favor due to technological advances, but were not uncommon 10+ years ago. These would be the least favorite kind of dog for a munchie, because folks generally only needed them at home when they were alone.

Is she still rubbing neat essential oils onto her surgical wounds? 😬

As MS used to say... God sees you, Angie. He sees you.
