General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

On an unrelated note, another /vt/tuber, Nadeshiko, had her debut stream a couple days ago. IRL she's a Japanese high school student who doesn't have the budget for a L2D model or streaming equipment, and she streams from her laptop while in the quietest place she can find (her closet).

The debut stream lasted a whopping 5 1/2 hours, starting off with a Powerpoint presentation, scuffed karaoke, and eventually leading to this: (4:01:42 if it doesn't work)

Just goes to show that as long as you can be entertaining, your model doesn't matter.

Also lol at /vt/ getting riled up because the MS paint vtuber may be a man. Who gives a shit.

For that matter I'm pretty sure there's a stick figure vtuber too.

At the very least, acknowledging the problem and striving to do better next time is a start. SpongeBob map aside, it isn't hard to tell people not to use the fucking taunts.

And it's a shame too because I really enjoy the notion of Niji and VShojo not being anally insular and strict about collabs outside of the company. Like it's nice to know that nothing is out the realm of possibility. And yet all massive issues present within yesterday's collab does is vindicates Hololive's tendency to take absolutely fucking forever greenlighting external collabs and coming off as if they're 'too good' when that should never be the takeaway at all (and let's be honest, the HoloEN collabs with VShojo have been pretty fucking bad too and you can't exclusively pin that on Mousey and Nyanners).

Oh no...

Also Ollie's gonna be playing Apex with Gundou Mirei. That one is pretty surprising, girl's got connections everywhere it seems.

I'm pretty sure it was actually Gundou who made first contact in one of Ollie's streams, which perhaps makes it even more surprising.

Yes yes, you don't like Hololive. Tell us something new for a change.

You literally take any opportunity to talk about how much you don't care about NijiEN. If you're going to cast stones I implore you to thoroughly read what it was that I said and then verify your house isn't made of glass.

People come to this board, which is not a Hololive board, to express unfiltered opinions on Virtual YouTubers away from all the 1984-esque rules found on the subreddit and Discord fan channels. Nobody owes it to anyone else to say things others agree with.

I don't believe in all the 'Oshi' stuff and I'll seldom part with my money in the form of any donation, but the ONE V-Tuber who I drop anything to watch is affiliated with Hololive. Don't be a retard.

Dude the post is about "the big collab" of niji/vshojo/pika/otv but somehow you manage to make it as hololive is shit talk. Why can't you just focus on what went wrong with the said collab.

Liking Nijisanji is fine but dude at this point you just want to talk shit about hololive.

I already discussed what went wrong with the big collab as it was happening yesterday. They're here a few pages back. They've already been expressed by me and others. If you want me to retread the full list for no reason I'll do so:

• Zentreya's TTS predictably ended up as random white noise. The delay from text to speech made it so they either had to completely ignore him or had to pause for long periods of time to listen. I told @Girlboy69 this would happen here in this thread before the collab even began.

• A couple of the VSHOJO members went missing shortly after introducing themselves, making it pretty awkward. I also said this was going to happen prior and during the stream.

• I described the first hour of the collab as 'awful' but never explained why. There were a lot of issues with invites and everyone playing the correct game mode. I failed to keep up with all this as I was only watching one POV and couldn't tell why it was happening.

• Zen didn't tell anyone how to play TTT like a fucking moron so it just became an awkward Team Deatchmatch until they decided to switch to Prop Hunt.

• It was around this time I described the collab as 'salvaged' after some really funny moments from Mousey and Finana holding conversations. Zen had the idea of splitting the call between Hunters and Props, but because Zen is a retard he was telling people to 'switch' voice channels even though it was the same teams every time, causing people to go missing for short periods of time.

• At the end, Haruka was horribly pushy about telling Pomu to talk about her surgery which made my skin crawl, but when I woke up I saw Pomu made a tweet saying she was thankful for the kind messages so decided it wasn't topical or worth ragging her for.

And that's it. Everything else - the DMCA, Zen's apology - were covered here whilst I was asleep. The first part of the message where I'm 'shitting on Hololive' literally has me calling VSHOJO (most specifically Zen) fucking morons for spamming DMCA stuff after inviting 4 Japanese company-employed members to join them.

I even said 'the MASSIVE issues in yesterday's collab vindicate Hololive's stricter policy when that shouldn't be the takeaway' which is hardly the spiciest take this board has seen.

I'll repeat this again, but it seems like Holo EN's on a shorter lease when it comes to external collabs (well, creative direction in general) than Holo JP. I mean Holo JP and Niji JP collab all the time with seemingly no issues, heck Ollie managed to snag one with Gundou Mirei.

Another theory is maybe they just don't have that many connections outside Hololive save for a few (Calli and Ironmouse, Ina and Pikamee), or maybe disinterested in it. There's also scheduling issues with who the heck knows what they're doing when they're not streaming.

My take on the whole Hololive collab restriction stuff is that its probably more to do with the talent's want to collab. Cali and Kiara were able to collab with Vshoujo because they're the most extroverted of the group. Ina was able to collab with Pikamee but I seriously doubt she would ever collab with Vshoujo. Ame gives off the vibe of a company girl who probably won't do a collab unless it benefits the Hol brand as a whole, not to mention she's relatively tame when collabing even with people inside Hololive. And as for Gura, forget about it. After seeing her "attempt" at prank calling Ina, I'm not sure she'll collab with anyone outside of Hololive if ever.

Ame and Gura had been lone wolf pre Hololive with pretty rare collab. Not to mention, Ame is secretly a mega introvert that tend to stay quite when there are more than 3 in the collab. It’s always lonely at the top, so Gura had to always look to cover her ass in everything she do because all eyes are on her during any big collab.

On other note, maybe Ame could organize Gary Mod prop hunt for cross Gen Hololive (that would sell pretty good since the game is so simple that JP girls can just use simple directional words like up down left right etc.)

It's definitely management picking since I think they're wary of the English community and the inability to keep kayfabe, but not even the talent is fully capable of that sometimes. Keeki called herself Kiara during her birthday cake eating and Calli has called herself Karen quite a few times.

They also might be afraid of brand damage, despite that being a dumb fear to begin with. Thing is, it does open up a lot of possibilities for things to go wrong, especially if one of the bigger fans gets some time with one; a collab with Naggz, Koefficient or Nux would be a recipe for fucking disaster, and Calli commented on something like that months ago; as much as she wants to work with Charlie, management would block it and even if they allowed it, it wouldn't really be on brand for either of them regardless of what content was produced.

I do agree that Haruka was a bit pushy on wanting "the details" of Pomu's surgery.

Given the horrifically safe and boring game choice, the Kiara-Nyanners collab I remember being pretty average and overall forgettable, but I don't remember it being too scuffed or cringy by Kiara standards. I actually liked the Calli-Mouse Q&A though since I thought they had good rapport and Calli generally being at her best when shooting the shit. I'm not familiar with the usual quality of VShoujo collabs, but the ones with HoloEN were pretty good considering they didn't have prior chemistry.

I always though it was a seniority thing with frequency of outside collabs being more common in the early generations compared to the later ones. I think FBK and Matsuri are typically the ones that do the most outside collabs while, off the top of my head, I don't remember if Gen5 has ever done any. There's also Towa but she tends to keep those to competitive Apex streams.

While I certainly have my qualms with how hololive is managed and think they're too strict about collabs, let's not act like Vshoujo and Niji dont have their own hangups. You think they'll allow Hoshikawa to collab with Haachama ever again? and Zentreya would screech til the end of time if anyone in Vshoujo dared to collab with someone "problematic" which is going to become a bigger issue with time

More chatting and some announcement.
  • She'll be doing morning streams but don't know if she can wake up on time yet. Also got featured on Fumi's NiZip and encouraged her listeners to check it out. I'm glad. Fumi put a lot of effort into her show and it doesn't get enough recognition.
  • First Eden gumi collab on July 28th.
  • Her debut commemoration goods will be going on sale again due to high demand. I blinked and it was sold out so I definitely don't want to miss this one.
Onto something unrelated, here's a random Gundou.
