This. She 100% plays it up for the camera when she's begging for money. Proving someone legally incompetent in a court of law is also a huge bar to cross, and isn't simply "oh she's forgetful sometimes".

It's just dumb, there's not much help available to him. He's functioning enough to theoretically join society, but fucky enough anyone who understands knows that'll be impossible. At least he received some charity, it was mostly well-intentioned.

People in the justice system aren't too internet savvy, unless it's formatted in a facebook post, it's just unintelligible gobbledygook to them.
