In some ways Bob kind of set Chris down this road by insisting that he go into mainstream classes with the other kids and not into special-needs classes that might have done him some good. To be fair, Bob was from another time and maybe had no idea what to do with a severely autistic kid.

Chris's family failed him Bob included. He wasn't the best for Chris in that way. He was socially a relic and not really fit to be the parent of an autistic kid, but damn if he didn't at least keep the family a little together. Of course we don't really know anything, but the messages seem to suggest that Chris was the one initiating. Anyway, I think if Barb had been raping Chris for years, there's no way he would have been capable of keeping that a secret.

Maybe not raping, but grooming and doing more minor stuff that's abusive. Idk, developmentally disabled people being groomed and sexually abused by older family members is horrendously common and we know Barb was a terrible person who abused her kids even before Chris was born.

I'm gonna go against the grain for a minute and come ahead to defend the trans people getting uppity about misgendering Chris.
Chris is an awful human being. Chris has done unspeakable things and needs to be committed to a mental ward. But I do see where trans people come from when they get upset about misgendering her.
A lot of these people are just otherwise nice, regular human beings who happen to be trans. They don't want their identity to be miscontrued. When somebody who has done bad things adopts a gender identity, regardless of what they've done, disrespecting what that person identifies as would effectively be a personal insult since it implies anybody can be ignored for what they identify as.
I'm not gonna expect anybody else here to really care, or even agree with me on this, but I personally feel discussing and belittling somebody shouldn't lead to throwing shade on a community they're a part of. That's all.
