The police really shouldn’t just have access to the house. Barb can give them permission or they can get a warrant.

Originally, they just came with a court order to remove Chris - but it's totally possible that they got a search warrant if they're investigating the premises for evidence of a sex crime.

Any prosecutor worth their salt could easily research and come to the conclusion that Barb on some occasions did use manipulations to keep Chris under her control. They have some pretty good evidence: Past court appearances, and if we're including these, the CWCki.

Some of it would boil down to when the relationship went sexual, which I believe per Chris was June 27th, and if/when Barb went dementia'd. If the sex started after she did, it wouldn't matter what she really did before beyond what the defense might use to try and sway a jury.

This scenario actually happening is a lot more horrific and depressing than I thought it'd be.

Yes there's got to be an investigation first. They have his tapes and texts to start with, but the prosecutor's office will have to decide not just if what he said is true, but if a jury will believe its true. The police will bring Chris in for questioning and will try to get him to make an official confession or at least tell them enough to back up what he said in the texts and incriminate himself. They'll check Barb for any physical evidence of sexual assault and if the DA office believes that there is enough evidence for them to get a conviction, they'll charge him. A lot of people are saying that he's going to wind up in a mental institution and if he is criminally charged, his attorney, whoever that might be, will probably try to have him plead insanity, but that doesn't mean that it will be a successful defense. If a jury (or judge if he gets a bench trial) decides he knew right from wrong, he'll be convicted and he will go to prison.

There will also be subpoenas sent to Twitter and his mobile phone provider as well based on the preliminary evidence.
