Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

On another note, tape 3's arcade cabinet must have had some serious juice, being able to store so much recorded audio and features when even the top games of 1982 (its claimed year) were nowhere near so beefy.
I feel this was a big problem throughout; media claiming to be of a certain era, without any features of said media. The videos of the storage facility are said to be from 1978!

So how about that coverage of Four Evenings At Frank's?

Honestly I'm not sure if his coverage of the subject matter was bad, or the actual subject matter was straight up garbage. Someone else in the thread pointed out how narratively the whole Waltem Files fell short because in no sane world would animatronics as awful to look at as TWF's would be used in any "kid friendly" place of business... which immediately delivers a mortal wound to any level of immersion.

It's a shame, because the creator obviously has some level of talent, but no one is ever gonna see TWF as its own beast, but rather a better or worse version than Five Nights At Freddy's.

The series proper was smart to make the restaurant short-lived with all the bad shit going on with it (something I don't think FNAF did) yet at the same time they didn't show enough of the animatronics when they weren't corrupted that made it hard for suspension of disbelief. Like there could be that level of suspension of disbelief for the first two tapes, but tape 3 was really weird with how it had top quality video game stuff that would be expected of the 90s rather than the 70s. It would've been better if the series moved the timeline to be in the 80s-90s that would fix these issues since the 1990s would make more sense to have that level of quality for Arcade machines

And his series Disturbing Things from Around the Internet is pretty good and there were moments where I was disturbed.
That series pretty much sums up Nexpo: all the entries are either fake, overly exaggerated, or retarded "ghost footage." In between all of those there's the rare chance he finds something actually creepy, but even in those cases the stories were already well known way before his video came out, so even if you only had a passing interest in internet mysteries and morbid footage you've already seen them all before. I wouldn't mind if the series entirely consisted of those type of clips because then it would at least live up to the title ~DisTurBinG~ and not everyone is a basement dweller freak who spends hours on /x/, but he can't do that because he has to stay family friendly if he wants to make money lol.

I thought this was ok. The uncanniness of certain elements did make me uncomfortable at points (i.e. usage of real faces but disfigured), but other than that it's a topic that's been done to death, regardless of if this one has a more coherent plotline than FNAF did.

Makes me think how I wished that FNAF had just.... "creepy animatronics that kill people". No spirits or nonsense. Just evil machines.
Of course that was wishful thinking and it apparently always will be for things in this sort of genre. I don't care for the whole 'monsters are really the victims' trope and never will. It feels boring.
Watch the FNAF VHS tapes made my Scrimpus McGimpus (yes I know that phrase sounds stupid as hell) if you want to see this concept done right, or at least substantially better. I don't think I've seen it mentioned in the thread.

There are some videos that did disturb me, like the 2018 Indonesia tsunami and the Station nightclub fire.

I liked it better when he just debunked shit, cause at least he could come in from the view of "I've seen my fair share of weird creepy shit, but this ain't it chief." Like when he debunked the creepiness of Ori Chef as just some lady in the Philippines who's just shit posting after she got some attention.

Where are these animated horror stories channels coming from? I have seen a jump of these types of channels since two years ago.
It's probably like how the animated SCP channels got really popular, basically the pandemic made all these channels massively popular since more people would have time to watch them.

Remember how several pages back, some of you guys theorized the strange similarities between the defunct ScareTheater channel and that seemingly new All Things Lost guy -- based on A) Their shockingly similar voice/tone and B) The former's disappearance coinciding with the latter's rise in popularity? Well, here's some evidence that they're not the same person after all. All Things Lost just released a new video on fictional lost media, and at a few spots he mentions 90's media like Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego and New Kids on the Block where he mentions that he remembers these from his youth -- suggesting he's a Millennial -- whereas ScareTheater was a Zoomer and was in his late teens at the height of his channel's popularity. I mean, I've seen plenty of Zoomers reviewing 90's media (like Mista GG, for example), but they're reviewing it from the perspective of someone who wasn't around when it was popular, and thus they're basically seeing it for the 1st time. All Things Lost distinctly mentions in his newest video that he played the original PC game of Carmen Sandiego in his youth, which is an old PC game that predates the early 90's show. Hell, I'm a 30-something Millennial myself, and I barely remember the Carmen Sandiego show, let alone the PC game (I mean, I'm vaguely familiar with both -- I was probably in kindergarten when the show was on TV, but don't remember too much about it).

Oh, I definitely remember that show, in fact, there were two – a low-budget game show on PBS and an animated series on ABC Saturday morning cartoons, which had a similar style as Captain Planet. I was in elementary school when the Carmen Sandiego game show was on TV, and I watched it every day when I got home. I sang the theme song and tried to play along at home by answering the geography questions. My favorite villain was Vic the Slick, the mobster guy with the mustache!

Looking back now, the show's production quality was ass, especially the animated villain characters that look like they were made in MS Paint at best. But, it was PBS, and their production budget was probably low so that Big Bird could get his own private jet. Fun fact: the black woman who plays Chief was also the mysterious radio DJ in The Warriors (the "alright, boppers") lady.

Anyway, if All Things Lost remembers watching Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? as vividly as I did, there's no way in hell he can be Gen Z. I guess that debunks the theory of him also being Scare Theater.

I’ve found myself listening to Lets read! on YouTube. I like his documentary style readings on horror, but every time I noticed a story he’s narrating is in the first-person I skip it because it’s obviously a story from his own subreddit.
I like that one. Slumber Reads is one I used to use as background noise too, and it was pretty adequate, nothing too annoying that kills a lot of readers for me. Then he put up a pic of himself in drag and I thought that sucks but I can ignore it. Recently he put out a video of his fucking trans story and "I don't identify as a woman, I AM A WOMAN". Unsubbed, hope it never shows up on my suggestions again. If you don't mind that, he's not a terrible reader. He hasn't put on a fake woman impression with his voice yet.
