Chris gave me access to his emails years ago to help out a while back during the Joshua Wise situation. I've had access since. Chris is aware i have access to his emails, and after changing his passwords recently gave me access to them again. I've helped him deal with trolls signing him up for spam and newsletters and other things like that.

I was going to send Chris his GoFundMe money, but after talking it over and sleeping on it, I've canceled the payment and I've asked GoFundMe to do a total refund.

I told Chris last night to spend one night sleeping in his vehicle, and that this morning I would help him figure out a way to have a roof over his head until August 5th. I suggested that he take some time under the stars to reflect on his situation.

Every so often, Chris gets an email alert that Barb has sent him money. I've always been under the impression that Barb tightly manages his finances and sends him a pittance. However, to my surprise, at 12:38am this morning (so less than 8 hours ago), Barb sent Chris $750.

I asked Chris about this.

My prediction...

Barb will be put in protective care. That means taking over all her financial matters. Nothing will pass to Chris because of his abuse. Chris will be emancipated and his checks will go to his own account instead of into Barb's account. He'll be given 30 days to get his stuff out of the house and he will have to find a place to live, a place to store all his toys and he will have to deal with whatever legal matters arise himself. There will be a hasty estate sale where the state (or county) will liquidate everything remaining at 14 Branchland Court to pay for her care. If Chris is lucky, he will be declared incompetent and the State/county will oversee some sort of controlled lifestyle for him. Section 8 housing. Social worker. Food stamps and his tugboat. He will definitely be put on the sex offender's registry. Internet access will probably be forbidden.

...and Chris being Chris, he'll rage and be uncooperative with the government oversight and it will all be taken away, leaving him on the street with his tugboat to fend for himself. To be honest, I think this is the eventual outcome no matter what happens. No one can prevent it.

Everyone is convinced severe legal action is coming down the line, but I've seen too many people, too many times on this site throth at the mouth at a potential or an actual legal case, only to be let down.

Unironically, I’d consider chipping in; agree with him doing it or not he’s been trying to be the positive influence that Chris’s parents flatly refused to be and is repaid with this. I doubt he’ll share his feelings openly but if I was Null, this would really fuck me up

No, I understand, I've worked in mental health. We'll put the scared, depressed 20 year old suffering suicidal ideation in the same holding room as the man who wants to talk about the goblins raping him at night, but we'll let the goblin rape victim go ASAP, because he's extremely difficult to control and won't follow his medicine plan, anyway. Meanwhile the kid who simply needs someone to talk to will go to group therapy sessions with people who hear voices in their head, doing nothing more than persuading him not to seek help the next time.
