Feel like this is super obvious in context of what we know now, but honestly I really really wouldn't of even had the mother of someone ping on my radar especially if they contacted me to tell me about the relationship.

I don't really think Null could have suspected Barb here with the information he was given since I doubt the idea of it being Barb was really floating around his head. I mean, I know for me I wouldn't go there especially since he placed the seed of the age being closer to 50 than 80 and furthermore he reached out to discuss the relationship on his own which is just a weird fucking move.

Yeah, I get that. I'm not trying to blame Null at all. I'm not even saying he had any obligation to tell anyone. I'm just trying to understand Null's mindset when having this conversation.

I get Null was giving Chris advice so trolls wouldn't fuck with Chris and his new lover. But that means Null either legitimately thought Chris was in a sexual relationship with someone else or that he was lying and Null was just pacifying him.

Yeah, I know that. But as I said by specifying 50, you're going to think something on the lower end than the higher end. If you told me someone was "older than their teens" I would think 20 not 60. I really just don't think most people go "totally fucking the mom" in most scenarios.

You know I really hope that Cole knows and actually has a shred of love for Barb to go to Virginia, get her into an old people's home and then find Chris and beat his ass for doing this. That would be a best case scenario for Barb, but I have a hard time seeing it happening. Cole really did hate her. Even if he feels sympathy over this, I doubt he cares enough to tangle himself up in it. Barb and Chris are strangers to him at this point, with only bad memories associated with them.

Because most normal people don’t read something like that and automatically assume that the writer is talking about their own dementia-ridden mother in a sexual context.

I know but taking Barb as a possibility out of the picture, I figured one of the handful of people Chris told this to would have been curious enough to do some more investigating. Which is why I suggested maybe some of them were investigating and it just took them until this week to find out it was Barb for sure.

I understand what you're saying, and I don't disagree. However, I think you might have misunderstood what my post was about because none of what I said had anything to do with what was mentioned in your comment. The post was in response to people stating that Barb raped Chris and the evidence they were using to justify this idea was their inappropriate Mother/Son relationship that constantly referenced back to Chris spooning his mother.

I'm neither arguing that it isn't inappropriate, nor that Chris isn't a product of his environment. I'm just saying that I don't think that Barb was grooming Chris for sex.

Oh, well I mean. I agree that theres no way barb raped chris. I disagree with the notion that it "wasnt for sex" has any bearing on this though. Grooming someone to be entirely physically dependent on you... tends to end in sex. That's why groomers start with non-sexual normalization of physical contact. You may be right that her INTENTION was to stop at a certain point on the way, but regardless of intention, what she DID was groom him into a sexual partner.

I'd still never say barb raped chris, but I think you cant absolve her of what she did regardless of the claim that "she only meant him to be dependent in nine ways not this TENTH and completely related way!!
