Iirc there's a whole "pro-bono" system in which lawyers take on cases that need lawyering. If the clients are required to pay the lawyers Chris might decide it too expensive to accept, barring him from buying another set of 50 amiibos in the process
If you refuse one, you’re still assigned one so that you can ask them questions And have them help on the case even though you represent yourself. Even if you throw a tantrum and they don’t sit with you, the court still has one there just in case because the right to counsel can be invoked at any time.
