It's called getting the subject to take an authentic recording of their screen verifying the application is not some dummy render that was manipulated through shopping or CSS tricks. Also to timestamp the recording, with showing the device that was used in the correspondence. Metadata can be falsified, but if you remove the barriers of potential tampering, then you can have robust results. If they are afraid of utilizing those means for such an important story, and you are just relying on screenshots. Then the data is garbage and can't be verified, especially through screenshot of DMs. The most easily manipulated piece of information out there.
