From what I’ve gathered it’s the same shit; a mentally ill pro skater who is being exploited by their manager (in this case it’s some guy named Habibi who cleans up his IG and like Bam, he’s still posting on his behalf as if nothings wrong).

IDK you had guys like Gator who killed someone before too many bangs to the head could make his brain Swiss cheese.

The head injuries certainly don’t help matters but the personalities and extreme behaviors and risks that can make you famous in the world of skateboarding attract some real psychos and scumbags. What other “sport” can you behave like Andy Roy, Bam, TK, etc… and not only still have a career but the arrests and extreme stupidity can actually help it? The skate world tends to glorify the types of behaviors and lifestyle that’s usually career suicide in every other field besides music and occasionally art.

It’s the only “sport” where you can behave like a degenerate, drugged out rock star so it’s a magnet for psychos and dirtbags. You don’t have to have a creative/artistic talent to get away with the BS, just physical prowess on a skateboard. This makes it a very attractive option to some real nasty pieces of work.

I think it’s the long term effects of having very few responsibilities and being encouraged to party for decades on end. All the drugs and alcohol are going to take their toll.
My husband has been skating street since the late 90s and he said he’s never hit his head hard and he skates some big gaps/stairs. Im sure bonks on the noggin do happen but often enough to cause all these guys to behave like retards? I think they’ve just pickled their brains.
Terry has been a ticking time bomb for years, putting out hits on his wife and apparently fucking over pretty much everybody he comes in to contact with. While I’m sure there’s an element of mental illness coming in to play, I also believe that he’s always gotten away with acting like a cunt so why ever stop? And people have infantilized him and acted like he’s not responsible for his own behavior which has allowed him to carry on pretty much unchecked.
He also hit up one of my husbands friends a couple months back asking if the dude could get him meth, so that’s also probably a contributing factor.

Skaters after the age of 12 rarely hit their head if they know what they are doing. I've been skating for a number of years and have never hit my head, nobody I know has hit their head, and nobody at any park I have ever been to has hit their head.
That being said, if you're wasted on booze and drugs, then it becomes a very realistic possibility
Also, Bam most certainly has CTE. But he is an exceptional individual. Remove all the skateboarding and Bam would still have CTE from all his years doing stunts and probably stumbling into shit wasted

Agreed. Bam is a meth head too though, his mom found it a few months back in the mailbox at his house which prompted one of the recent rehab stints. There’s certainly a theme here with these guys!

That’s about all there is to it I believe. She’s pretty much in control of his life, they give him a daily allowance of $1000, he lives in a house 5 minutes down the road from them (not the castle, nobody lives there). She went over to visit and his dealer had dropped it in to the mail box so she hit the roof and called Novak in and that bottom feeder lurked around for a while trying to exploit the situation for clout. Then the shit with jackass happened which culminated in him threatening Jeff Tremaine so now Bams been sent by them somewhere for a few months to cool off and get himself sorted out away from everybody/the public eye.

That's a good point as well. I don't skate anymore so I don't know about the current culture, but back in the day the Baker team were notorious degenerates even by skate pro standards.

I wasn’t aware he sold the purple lambo, when I was last at his house about a year and a half ago he still had that and a Range Rover. Was that a recent thing?
