Possibly, but there's not enough information to know for sure. If antibodies not targeting the spike are enough to stop or highly limit infection, then almost certainly. Most vaccines only include the spike, so the Delta infection would be your first exposure to all the other parts of the virus. If the spike protein is the only part of the virus that can be effectively targeted by antibodies, there could theoretically be an issue.

The only difference is now without BLM, we just have to deal with things turning into the 1970s where horrible things can happen to you on a subway platform in broad daylight, and the only way to permanetely deal with a career criminal, is to either lock them away in a max security prison, or just pop a cap in their ass so they can rot in Hell…but that was before Minecraft was a thing. Anyone who has lived in New York with clear eyes knows that the institutional media (e.g. the NYT) isn't going to take crime seriously until a staffer is murdered in daylight right outside the NYT building. Until then, you won't really see anything from the media about crime.

I suspect it'll be like a dam is released when the turning point re crime occurs. It will happen very slowly and then all at once.

That tweet posted a few pages back that the White House was discussing lockdowns starting in mid August because of the "delta variant" of the coof. IIRC, at least blue states are on board with it. If they lock down, there could be red states going back to "temporary" closures and "face mask" BS. I hope that doesn't happen though.

I just don't see the public following another lockdown, particularly if the weather is still nice.

The first one worked because there were scary numbers coming out of Italy and the Middle East. We didn't know much about it. There weren't widespread enforcement activities, but most people voluntarily complied.

Then the media spent last summer screaming that protests don't cause any spread. Outdoor transmission is decidedly low, but now they can't go back on that narrative. Cops across the country are too busy dealing with actual crimes than to worry if people are staying home or not. The lockdowns won't be followed voluntarily.

The vaccinated have the thought process of "i did my part, they had their chance to get vaccinated and chose not to", and the antivaxxers think "the vaccinated folks are still getting covid, what's the point". They're both right, and that pisses both sides off immensely.

There's also the fact that the delta variant was identified before widespread vaccinations. While it is technically correct to say that it rose out of an unvaccinated population, it is intellectually dishonest as well. Delta was ID'd in December 2020, when vaccines weren't available.
