I had never previously put Jeffrey Dahmer and Adam Lanza in the same thought together but now I instantly ship it. Dahmer tops, right?Honestly surprised at the lack of posts on this thread, ao3 is pretty much the premium archive for finding people who should be in the looney bin, or at least on a list somewhere. Personally, some of my least favorite have to be those in the "RPF" (real person fiction) category. Spoiler for advanced degeneracy ahead.

This doesn’t exactly fit “horrors” but this is the Kiwifarms fanfiction thread so I thought I’d post it here
I got bored and was wondering, “Hey, are there any results if I search kiwifarms on ao3?” What was I expecting? I don’t know. Maybe some high caliber lolcow fic? ChantalxBibi? Kevin? Who knows.
But instead I found a 13k word Minecraft YTer (Like Dream and all his orbiters) fanfiction and while that on its own is nothing notable, as there are tens of thousands of them (the fic does feature a lot of very…. Dubious content but that’s not what I’m here for.) what I noticed was that part of the plot is that the characters in universe have a KiwiFarms thread? Like. The author built a carrd to resememble a hypothetic kiwifarms thread in universe for pre-existing exposition. The fic is actually fucking demented and makes me want to die but goddamn part of me admires the dedication lol. Also someone who uses this website is writing Dream fics? With the dream thread publicly available? His 400-pound ass? Really?

This is so fucking absurd and yet autistically impressive. Shame it's a goddamn minecraft youtuber fanfic, there's something genuinely hysterical about the idea of a fanfic about a fictional character's in-universe kiwifarms thread.

Doesn't fit the definition "horror" like before, but where else am I going to talk about it? I don't know about the story itself to recommend it (genuinely or ironically) and the other fanfic thread is dead.
The Alexandra Quick series, a fanfiction based in the world of Harry Potter. It was posted to fanfiction.net in December of 2007, months after Deathly Hallows was released.
It's set in the HP universe, obviously, but the characters are in America instead. Supposedly, barely any of the characters from canon are alluded to at all and the fic trying to be its own thing. So why am I bringing this up?
Because the "horror" here is that the author has been working on it for 14 fucking years. And it's still ongoing.
Combining all the books in the series, the word count is a total 1,166,495 and, according to her latest update, the sixth book increased that above 1,400,000. To top it all off, there's a seventh entry planned as well. From what little I've read of the livejournal, it seemed like they have the goal of sticking to the canon of the Harry Potter books as much as possible, Cursed Child and the Fantastic Beasts stuff excluded.
I attached an archive of the fanfics, which were provided by Inverarity at her livejournal page except for the PDF version for World Away, which I had to download myself.

It gets even better. She's a 23-year-old Dutch chick who got into Twilight during quarantine. Her first foray into fan fiction was through Twilight and then cried when her little brother found her smutfic. Absolutely can't even.
