Bell had a deaf mother (and later a deaf wife) and thought it would be better to teach deaf kids how to lip read and speak instead of sign language. This was his main goal in life and he used his telephone money for it. There were issues with his approach but his intention was simply to have deaf people be able to communicate in English, which is and always will be far more widely spoken than ASL. Bell was especially concerned about how many deaf people were living in insular communities (i.e. Martha’s Vineyard) and tried to prevent deaf people from breeding with each other (ok this is eugenics for real but he was for encouraging deaf and hearing to get together NOT forcibly sterilizing them or legally preventing their marriages) and hanging out together at all. This understandably upset Deaf people and to this day they are salty that they live integrated into society instead of in special deaf-only towns. IMO even though some of his ideas were misguided, he did a lot for the deaf community. For example, he invented the first audiometer and Helen Keller, deaf/blind and an absolute legend, dedicated her autobiography to Bell for his help to both her personally and all deaf people.

His last hearing test results came back normal range/frequency and he kept sperging how the test is wrong and that he's deaf. I'm sure everyone here has had a hearing test before and knows that you have to actively respond to stimuli in one. Its important to remember that wedge is not deaf. He claims to be hearing impaired however he speaks normal and we’ve had no evidence that he actually knows American sign language. The closest we get is that he does caption pretty much anything he puts on video. However in his most recent video in the bathtub wasn’t he not paying attention when kevin said something to him and as soon as kevin said speaking he snapped his neck over to look at kevin. Would that be pretty hard to hear from a distance?

My theory is that Wedge has spoken in the past about his parents (who he hates of course) doing lots of stuff for/with deaf people when he was a kid. He also talked about his parents telling him to stop faking being deaf for attention, of course he claims he isn't faking but I think it's obvious he was jealous of the attention actual real deaf people were getting from his parents so he started larping as deaf, which didn't work on them because they're his parents and they know he can hear just fine. As an adult though he thinks he can get away with it with people who don't know better. It's funny though, one time he actually said how deaf he allegedly is, in the 0-10db range, which is quieter than a whisper. I bet most people in this thread have or have had at least one grandparent with worse hearing than that, and I guarantee none of those grandparents ever needed an interpreter like ol' Wedgie does.

I think Wedge is confusing sensitivity to auditory stimuli and selective auditory attention with being hard of hearing. He mentioned before that he struggles to comprehend multiple conversations/too many voices and/or sounds happening at once as well as hearing faint sounds, which is completely normal, but amplified by autism.
