Hopefully the pets are okay...

They should be, I worked with impounded animals for about 3.5 years, mostly strays, but some were taken from homes where crimes took place. They are most likely at the animal control facility/hospital with the holding contract and will be held for a certain amount of time (usually a week for strays where I worked) and then they will be adopted out or sent to a rescue, once again, depending on who has the contract. However, I am not well versed in Virginia animal impound laws, so I may be wrong.

So my knowledge of the US court system is limited to what I've seen in TV and in movies... but aren't they suppose to keep a record of the court proceedings and what was said? Isn't there a way to get access to that info?
