Pardon my autism, but they don't just throw all your shit in the trash when you get arrested. You can actually continue to accrue debt when your mortgage and other bills accumulate during your sentence. It's not uncommon for the incarcerated to collaborate with their families to sell large assets (home, vehicles) and auction off smaller items to pay for legal fees and other debts.aha, great i can already sense the anxiety flooding his brain knowing that his toys are gonna get thrown into a dump. he must be feeling sick constantly thinking about his precious legos that are gonna get discarded like trash.
This is kind of a unique situation, because the property is in Barb's name. The next of kin would typically be the one to dictate what happens to a person's home if they are declared mentally infirm and have to be removed. However, Chris is her next of kin, and I imagine an elder abuse charge would remove whatever power he could have had over her assets.
There are two options here. The first is that Barb is assigned a professional guardian and the home remains as it is until she either dies or can't afford it anymore. If that were to happen, Chris's shit would probably remain undisturbed until that time, remaining where it is in the hoard like an autistic Pompeii. What a professional guardian would do with Barb's assets is anyone's guess, though. They're unfortunately known to be incompetent and corrupt.
The second option is where things get interesting. Bizarrely enough, the fate of Chris's Legos might actually be determined by Cole, who may be approached to be Barb's conservator/guardian. As far as I can tell, he's Barb's next of kin now that Bob is dead and Chris is in jail. I don't know much about Cole beyond that he wants nothing to do with Chris or Barb, but I think most people in his situation would liquidate Barb's assets and use the money for her extended care, meaning Chris's Funkos would go to a landfill. This scenario is a lot less likely, because I really doubt Cole would agree to being Barb's guardian.
