This would probably last only as long as the gratification received remains sufficient to hold their attention, or until some other quick rush replaces it. An individual like Chris is uniquely malleable though, having a much more tenuous grip on reality than most people in similar situations, so it's hard to generalize from him to others.

As my area is limited to cognitive processing, another psychfag who specializes in some area of abnormal psych would probably be able to shed a bit more light on these questions.

Psychopathy and APD are also frequently compared, but APD sounds more impulsive.
