In the calls, Bella seems to keep pushing the idea that she'll be both the photographer and the bodyguard, over and over. She doesn't mention being appointed as such by anyone, she's mostly just pushing it on Chris. He actually gets annoyed at one point because she keeps focusing on how she'll document Fiona and Chris "dancing", and herself "dancing" with both of them, and Chris "dancing" with "other women you want to experiment with" (to make a "romantic slideshow"), and Chris points out how he's also going to the convention for the actual stuff at the convention and wants that documented too.

Chris was going to have a stand at that convention managed by Praetor. Bella also allegedly learned of Chris's credit card details from the Praetor discord/group chat. And everyone in Praetor's maintained radio silence. I dont know why people think her dad is somehow pulling strings to cover this up. If anything a guy like that would probly throw her under the bus too but I doubt he has a full view of whats happening. One thing I can say is that a guy with those credentials can't just "pull strings" and not risk anything for himself. Bella is probably going to fuck up his security clearance for him.
