And given how stupid he has proven himself to be, his perception of everyone else has got to be absolutely fucking nuts. He probably thinks that he's the only 4-d chess wizard who can remember that he grifted for a new tablet two weeks ago, and everyone else is just a dumbass goldfish mindlessly handing him money.
I mean, it's entirely possible that Lou himself doesn't even remember; it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he's aware that he constantly grifts for new shinies, but doesn't even realize just how egregiously often it is. I remember being stuck at home during COVID and feeling the days just melting together because there wasn't a work schedule to give me any sort of points of reference, and Lou's been in his own self-imposed home isolation for how many years?
He's definitely dumb enough to get lost and tangled up in his own web of lies. Like the old old "broken fan Amazon scam", which later turned up being fixed by his brother's father. What you have to realize is that, if a device manufacturer wants to spy on your shit, they're gonna do it. The technology exists and they have the power to implement it, and if they're at the stage where they're doing that, they're certainly not going to tell you about it. Having worked with Big Data in the past, I genuinely believe that the vast majority of people have nothing to worry about, because you, person who is reading this right now, are neither important enough or interesting enough for either Uncle Sam or Tim Cook to give one liquid shit about you. But the important thing is that Apple announcing that they're going to scan devices for child porn does not affect this calculus in the slightest--unless you happen to be someone who keeps child porn on your phone, or at the very least someone who cares passionately about the rights of pedos to get their rocks off, a position not even the ACLU takes.
