You're not. All you have to do to tag someone is type an @, and then start to type their name, and hit Enter/click when it auto-completes.

You don't need to manually hyperlink to their profile, because that won't tag them. How could I tell that you hyperlinked? When you hover over a normal @ it will come up with the quick-view for their profile if you did it right. Your @ to @Caeser (and you spelled his name wrong, by the way) doesn't do that:

Did a little bit more digging, in concurrent with knowing that he went to Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon CA and was a newspaper editor there, I was able to find out that Sean Walker graduated there in the class of 2017, attending DVHS from 2013-2017. I've been having trouble finding an archive of a 2017 DVHS yearbook to corroborate the yearbook photo (which I'm certain is him because of the other photo of him found on the DVHS newspaper website, I'd just like a middle name to narrow the search), as well as anything else about him.
