Dr. Mary Beth Wilkas Janke PsyD / Dr. Mary Beth (TM) / The Protector is the wife of Michael Janke, stepmother of Isabella Loretta Janke and (deep breath):
  • Former US secret service special agent.
  • Author, speaker, self-esteem mentor.
  • Adjunct Professor at The George Washington University Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences.
  • Senior Executive Director, Executive Protection and Training, Hunter Global Security Strategies.
  • Self-proclaimed #badass
As a glow 'power couple' Mike provides the brains (cyber security) and Mary Beth provides the brawn (physical/personnel security). However, she's stated she's never had to slot anyone in the course of her career, presumably in contrast to Mike's prior life in the Navy SEALs. Both of their public images lean heavily on the portrayal of a 'hard man'/operator based on prior military or government experience.
Screenshot 2021-08-11 063933.jpg

Mary Beth owns a pet pot bellied pig called Wilbur Babe Janke that unironically dislikes Isabella on the basis of her poor hygiene, and two pet cats called Cooper and Saturn. She appears to be an animal lover as evidenced by her Instagram posts, hopefully she keeps Isabella away from them all, or at least will do in future.

Something of potential interest might have happened in her early career as a secret service special agent, the synopsis of her book states:
Mary Beth Wilkas landed her dream job as one of the few female United States Secret Service agents in the early 1990s. But when her integrity is unfairly called into question, the dream dissolves.
What could this have been to end her secret service career after only 1 year, that she still claims was unfair 30 years later and forms the premise of her book?
I find it curious that she was a secret service special agent for only 1 year (no disrespect intended in and of itself) and was potentially fired/resigned on an integrity basis, but that's the career moment that defines her for the next 30 years and became her headline/image: "former secret service special agent".

An observation is she appears to have plenty of things to say about being a woman in a man's game.

ByronRodgers - Dr. Mary Beth - Earn Your Spot (EPL Season 3 Podcast EP110)
Dr. Mary Beth is a rare breed… as I did my research before doing this episode she’s one of the most respected females I’ve discovered in our industry. Mentors of mine have referred to her as a mentor which means a lot to me so this interview was quite an honor. Her career has been extremely impressive moving through time with the Secret Service as a special agent, military forces, and even PMC work. She’s the only woman ever to protect a foreign president outside of the US, she’s operated in theaters such as Peru and Haiti. She has operated as a VIP Protection Instructor for the US State Department-sponsored Anti-terrorism Assistance Program (ATA), and as the US Security Advisor to the Minister of Defense and the Vice President of Colombia.

She has earned her doctorate, and with a background in Forensic and Clinical psychology, she spent the past 20 years split between practicing psychology as a therapist and serving as an Adjunct Professor in the Psychology Department at the George Washington University where she teaches Abnormal Psychology and the Psychology of Crime and Violence. She also regularly facilitates mental health training and continues to consult in the fields of Forensic and Clinical Psychology. She’s written an amazing book about her story called “The Protector“. All in all I think she is such a fantastic example of what one woman can do if she’s truly willing to apply herself… I know there are so many amazing women out there serving in many different fields and I hope they will also be brought into the limelight because we both know men and women need good role models these days.

Dr. Mary Beth Janke is one of those amazing role models. A lot of her work has to do with helping women gain the self-esteem they need in order to achieve their dreams. This is an amazing episode with so much to offer both men and women in many areas and especially those of us who are professional protectors… ENJOY!

One thing I find odd is how she’s still posting shit on her IG casually while it’s being spammed with content about Bella. She just posted 13 hours ago.
Great point, her IG is getting absolutely wrecked and I've not seen her react to it at all #womensupportingwomen #badass

Yep, confirmed here slightly after 1:50 timestamp in the video (which is incidentally a very interesting and ironically fitting interview about personality disorders.)

Pig drop, bonus cats.
Can't imagine The Protector will be too pleased to hear about the animal abuse.

Instagram quote:
Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” - Anatole France. ⠀
While it’s so simple, I so agree. Loving sweet (and stubborn) Wilbur brings a sense of joy and meaning to my life. I love sharing him here with you as well, as it seems he also brings a moment of joy to you! Cheers to all the sweet animals that ground us and inspire our smiles.Screenshot 2021-08-11 064101.jpgScreenshot 2021-08-11 064125.jpgScreenshot 2021-08-11 064147.jpgScreenshot 2021-08-11 064204.jpgScreenshot 2021-08-11 064301.jpgScreenshot 2021-08-11 063118.jpgScreenshot 2021-08-11 063100.jpgIMG_2127.jpgkek.png

I hadn't watched the full interview before but it was fascinating.

The interviewer has clinical experience treating personality disorders but Dr Mary Beth, who's a forensic psychologist, just steamrollers over her and insists that besides BPD none of the Cluster B personality disorders are treatable and BPD is only dubiously treatable, and any therapist who thinks they've improved a narcissist or psychopath has been tricked by them.

That one might actually be true - I know there was an experiment Mary Beth alluded to where they taught psychopaths how to recognise emotions in others and understand how they're feeling. Rather than learning affective/somatic empathy (feeling what someone feels) they just massively improved their cognitive empathy (working out how someone feels) and so just became more dangerous psychopaths who were better able to hide in plain sight.

She also talks about how many of the people she guarded were psychopaths (and about when she was working in Bogotá there was a price on her head) and how that was fine because she just told them what to do and didn't have to converse with them. She's very specific in that there is no point trying to reason with a psychopath or a narcissist, and that you shouldn't feel bad for them, and if you suspect you know someone who is a psychopath or a narcissist your best course of action is to just cut ties.

She doesn't come across as a likeable, understanding or kind woman. In fact she comes across as arrogant and unethical - she diagnoses Warren Buffett as a psychopath without ever having met him, which is a breach of the APA's Goldwater Rule. But she does come across as fiercely intelligent and incredibly tough. Given she also talks about spotting the signs of a budding psychopath in children and adolescents. I reckon she knows exactly what Bella is and holds her at arm's length - and possibly doesn't bother sharing this insight with Glowdaddy.

At some level, I feel sorry for her. She works hard as a glowie, gets a book deal, teaches at uni about psychos. How cool is that? Everything is good! She even meets another rich glowie, Mike. He has a kid on his own, but she is away in college, no need to raise her much. He is a catch.

Everything is working out and life is good but then your stepdaughter is outed as a psycho on the internet. Even if you never bonded with that much, you, a pro in that matter, are now being called into question because you never noticed something. You didn't even give birth to her, you barely tolerate her, and now she is destroying your life...

Now, that is what call a good Lifetime movie

It really sounds like she knows from personal experience what she's talking about. Maybe not just from Bella, but from herself as well. The only real cure for a psychopath is radical brain surgery administered to the back of the head at high velocity. Twice to be sure.

Whichever shite graphic artist did Mike Jane's book covers did hers too by the look of it. Probably pump out hundreds of covers a day in a similar fashion. Grifters, all of them.

Random thought: From what I remember, Bella does not seem very fond of her stepmother. Is there a chance that her fungi ridden ass was kinda jelly of her? Like, the woman is an actual (alleged) badass while Bella tries too hard to be an edgy wannabe. The woman seems to be beloved by her students while Bella only has a few follower simps. Bella is so petty that I wouldn't be surprised if she hates her because she is not her...

Based on what has been revealed about Bella and what is revealed here (excellent op, by the way) these two are absolute polar opposites. Egomaniacal overachiever versus narcissistic sociopath. A match made in Hell.

I can see why Isabella went a little nuts having two self-help, motivational speaker, egomaniac hucksters as parents. Their main talent is shameless self promotion.

Mike also 100% bangs other women unless he’s had prostate cancer or some shit, but I’ll also bet Beth agreed to an open marriage arrangement to keep trophy husband happy. Beth is definitely a down grade from the first wife.

Mike obviously likes women that look good on paper and have impressive CV, which is hilarious given the situation his daughter is in.
