Only a guilty person wants to downplay the severity of obvious crimes. By softening it to "they're not criminals, they're just being dicks," now Dick can try to argue that increasingly severe things like rape are not "really" crimes. It comes off like he's a rapist since he wants to frame rape as being okay sometimes.

I would very minorly disagree. When Ralph worked as a tard wrangler, he had a gift for making people speak up, and he brought together all kinds of people you wouldn't expect to come together. Of course, that was him sitting back, drinking, and just piping up now and then when it got quiet.
Go back to any of his best streams and it's all about the moments created by the guests saying or doing dumb shit that he somehow managed to get them to do despite their instincts screaming they shouldn't do it.
As time went on and people realized how fucking radioactive he was becoming, they kept their distance, and Ralph suddenly had to start carrying the show on his own which he ABSOLUTELY CANNOT DO. Not to repeat a cliche in this thread but you really should not be surprised by Dax. Dax actually does not care about anything besides his own self interest and usually his short term self interest at that. He probably fucked an unconscious girl so it can’t be sexual assault. That’s why we have the paradox of an out and out misogynist defending a woman’s bad behavior because fundamentally he has a libertarian attitude toward everything. Judgement is only a manipulation tactic to him, not a tool of social regulation, so it makes no sense to judge a prospective lay.
He doesn’t agree with limits to his whims even when these limits are well founded. This solipsism and living for biological prerogatives exists within the little rhetorical games he tries to play. One day he’s a moral relativist because nobody is innocent and the other day he’s a moral absolutist calling out people trying to “shift blame” for a (demented) man’s actions. The only consistency, the only way his methodology ever breaks is toward what advantages him in either an immediate way or might help him eventually based on the sort of things he intends to do later. Which is how you know he knows himself well if he can treat himself with this kind of ethical contempt.

Except Dax has shown again and again that he's actually like this. The character of Dick is, at best, an exaggeration of horrible qualities he's been proven to have in real life, at worst it's an outright lie to excuse his reputation of being insane. Just recently, he's helped the Gunt groom a literal teenager, he went on creepy tirades to justify his love of Cuties, and now he's defending Bella (Another pedo) out of spite.
