Katelyn Burns / Katelyn Anne Garrett / Kyle Burns Garrett / Transscribe / ClosetTransGirl / tabz_ftw - Jesse Singal Stalker and fat balding plagiarist LARPing as a Journalist

"Who would ever women's sports...", indeed. This man is a writer btw. I didn't watch Hubbard, but I would assume he lost because he is a fat genetic failure
He's an aging, injured mediocrity with terrible lifting form, and he still would have taken silver if he'd put up a total comparable to his best performance in the recent past. An actually good male(-bodied?) lifter would have won handily even over the Chinese gold medalist, who is a genetic freak pumped full of the super soldier serum.

For the religious, only the sinners need to panic about death. Someone who doesn't believe in life after death (like an atheist) has more to panic about dying than someone who devoutly believes that the soul lives on after death.

Was he just panicking because he was (and still is) a closet gay who fears he's going to hell?

That's a bit of an oversimplification. Embedded into most forms of Christianity is the idea that the majority of people are damned ("For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.")

Catholicism has purgatory to make things extra fucked up (even if you avoid hell you might go there for a thousand years to have your sins burned away) and they'll count as mortal sins things like skipping Mass and jerking off. Catholics even have their own form of OCD behavior (scrupulosity) when a believer becomes obsessed with the idea of sinning and going to hell, often to the point of breakdown.

Edit: I meant skipping mass and jerking off as two separate unrelated sins, but I'm sure if you did both at the same time you would definitely go to extra hell

I had forgotten about purgatory. Though personally I find the idea that you are just nothingness after death to be more frightening than the idea of purgatory or reincarnation as an insect or whatever. Not sure how I would have reacted had I been taught that kind of thing as a kid, though. So maybe him freaking out about death isn't as weird as I first assumed.

Troon narcissism never ceases to sicken me..

The Taliban are rounding up underage girls so they can marry them off in order to legally rape them and he actually thinks that is comparable to the media talking about males entering female sports, despite the unfair advantage they have over women in sports.

It’s affected my own work as well. I was once a very productive journalist in tune with the ins and outs of every day trans discourse. Now I mostly just feel like shit, and I’m afraid to jump into trans-related projects. I’ve started several trans-related non-fiction book proposals and and abandoned them. I can’t imagine devoting years of my life to a project knowing my reward at the end of the rainbow is the internet’s worst people taking apart my life… again.

Also wrote about trains because of course: https://katelynburns.medium.com/the...o-busan-but-america-has-no-trains-8c7e7aedacd
I love trains. Sometimes I sit on my couch and watch mass transit videos on YouTube for hours on end.

Free advice, Katelyn: maybe get a fucking hobby and stop making 'trans' the beginning and end of your personality and your career?

Apparently we are supposed to be weeping about all of Katelyn's trans-related book proposals that will now never be finished, as if anyone fucking cares about another bullshit book written by a self-congratulatory autogynephile about how the Aztecs were secretly nonbinary, or how kindergarteners need to be made more queer, or whatever. Even the ones being published now aren't selling well, because no one cares that you stroke your dick to thoughts of wearing panties. You're so. Damn. Boring.

You like trains? Good! Go propose a book about trains with a new angle. Go write articles about trains. Travel to Busan and write about the trains there. Fucking contribute something that doesn't revolve around your coombrained fetish and why everyone should bow down to it. Get something in your life that doesn't depend on women unconditionally accepting you as one of them, because that is never going to happen.

The problem with those 'worst people on the internet' is that they were pointing out that Kyle had been busy lying - libeling, really - people like Jesse Singal, working up hate mobs towards anyone he disagreed with, and ignoring facts that didn't fit his preferred narrative rather than being an actual journalist. He even admitted to some of these behaviours while claiming to have 'been in a dark place', though I'm guessing that tweet, while preserved in this thread somewhere, has been long-deleted now.

So it's not so much other people taking apart his life as it is Kyle's own actions of deceit and malice getting exposed to the world, with personal and professional consequences. Of course, you frame it like that, and it's much less sympathetic, isn't it.

To be fair to Kyle, he tells a few hard truths in this piece
Having read a few of his pieces, he's not that bad a journalist. Even on troon issues, where he's actively pushing an agenda, there are not only numerous troons worse than him but he has allowed room for a slight bit of nuance. Rarely, often caveated, but by even acknowledging that sometimes a trans person can be in the wrong and not everyone who has a problem with a single trans person is a Nazi TERF who wants to murder them all - that puts him above quite a few journalists, even normal ones.

And he even appears to have decent journalistic instincts at times, in the paragraphs before everything comes back to being about troonism. It's funny, if he hadn't trooned out he might have been half-decent, but being a half-decent journalist means fuck-all nowadays, so the only reason he ever got jobs was by being a zealous troon hack who reinforced a narrative rather than actually tried to spot the truth. It's the problem of the diversity hire: that diversity is all your employers, and therefore you, are allowed to produce content about, and you're expected to stagnate in the job without getting any better because there are no expectations for you to have skills, only represent a 'voice'.

Kyle, for his many, many faults, is not a Fire, Jake Alley, Sapphixy or Lou Gagliardi, to name just a few. That's an incredibly low bar to clear, but not being rock-bottom is an achievement for a cow like Kyle. He also manages to be at least slightly less insufferable than Grace Lavery, Laura Kate Dale and Ana Valens, which again - incredibly low bar, but still something.

The main problem, of course, is that troons who have that glimmer of self-awareness are the ones more likely to off themselves once they realise what they've done to their lives. It's those completely divorced from reality, like all the other troons listed, who suicide-bait like it's their job but are too narcissistic to do it. Having squandered a talent gives you something to mourn, while fucking up an already fucked-up life means you don't know what you're missing. I don't feel bad for Kyle because he chose to become a waste of space, and a right asshole while he was at it. But his delusions appear to be skating on ever-thinner ice, and it won't be pretty when it breaks.

He's a hack journalist imo. Nothing he writes contains even a pretense of objectivity and he inserts little white lies (like his anecdote about the army recruiter in his 9/11 piece asking him if he wanted to be in Afghanistan in 30 days) here and there to personalize otherwise banal observations. He never breaks news or scoops he exists in that self aggrandizing "reacting to the reaction" space that emerged from blog culture in the aughts. That's fine but don't pretend to be a journalist when you're really just a take generator that occasionally interviews people that agree with said take.
