I thought this was an interesting point. If there's a critical need for more, cheaper oil, we can provide it here. I know it's because the Biden administration wants to look proactive on climate change (eg, reducing domestic production, fracking), but the end result will inevitably look confusing, much like this is.

It's like in Germany when Merkel decided to stop the production of nuclear energy to get the green vote while investing in coal-power stations and also buying energy from France (mostly nuclear).

It doesn't help that during the Trump administration, the US military was obfuscating data as part of an effort to mislead the White House so that they could keep their grift going. Some of the quotes (especially in the second article I linked) are fucking gold. The guy says multiple times in regards to multiple situations that President Trump's pragmatic approach was a good thing and even if it didn't result in a victory, it resulted in outcomes that were "the best any administration could hope for in such a messy, volatile region." And even so, the guy still played a role in undermining civilian oversight of the military and betrayed his country all the way back into retirement.

You have to love it when these fucks came out of retirement to sabotage President Trump and then returned to their easy chair once the job was done.
