Persistent claims that leftist congresswoman Ilhan Omar married her own brother to get around US immigration laws may be legitimized by what appears to be a conclusive DNA test.

The results of the test assert that there is a 99.999998% chance that Omar and her second husband Ahmed Elmi are siblings.

The report, drawn up by Endeavor DNA Laboratories does not name either Omar or Elmi, instead referring to them as 'Sibling 1' and 'Sibling 2.' DailyMail.com understands that Omar is Sibling 1.

It says that Sibling 1's sample was garnered from a cigarette butt and Sibling 2's from a drinking straw.

Omar has never before been known publicly to be a smoker, although her third husband Tim Mynett is. However, a grainy picture of her with a cigarette in her mouth, said to have been taken outside her home in Washington, D.C. appears as part of the evidence gathered in an intensive investigation by a shadowy conservative group.

Did anyone happen to notice that the morons who wrote that article reversed their identification of which sibling was which person or the entire thing is just complete bullshit?

Note that "Sibling 1" is listed as XY (meaning they could call AMELX & AMELY for Amelogenin, indicating that the genotype of the person is XY [Male]) and "Sibling 2" is just X (meaning they could only call AMELX for Amelogenin, indicating that the genotype of the person is XX [Female}).

Now, unless Ilhan Omar has a secret penis no one has been able to prove until now, "Sibling 1" could not possibly be her. As such, Ilhan Omar is "Sibling 2", which would make sense, since her "brother" would have a vagina if he was XX.

Not quite what they did. They didn't do a whole genomic comparison. They took selected, highly conserved sequences and compared the samples to one another. They then calculated the odds of how likely it would be if they weren't related that one would see such a high degree of homology (sameness) between two random samples. The odds on that are 1 in 47,352,360. If you invert the question you get what is the confidence that they are related and they are not two random samples given the homology, which is 99.999998%.

Whoever those two samples belong to, the man and the woman in question are, beyond all reasonable doubt, full siblings, with full siblings being defined as having the same mother and father.

Your mom = 50% of your DNA. Your dad = 50%. If you have the same mother and father you should share 100% DNA, or statistically as close as you can get to 100% (it's probably 99% because almost every human deviates in some slight way from every other human).

"99%" is supposed to refer to the chances of them being siblings, not the percentage of genetic match.
