Victor Mignogna v. Funimation Productions, LLC, et al. (2019) - Vic's lawsuit against Funimation, VAs, and others, for over a million dollars.

I'm pretty sure if your judge is an ass all you can do is put an objection on the record about it for appeal. And if I recall, Chupp even told Ty at once point to 'stop objecting'.
He did. It is all kinds of borked, but the literal remedy for a judge off the rails or drunk on power is 'appeal me, bro, and wait 1-3 years.'

I haven't paid much attention to Ty, and while he seems like he could get high off his own farts I think it is unfair to say he is doing a bad job.

It is like bitching at the Cashier for something being out of stock in a store, They can't help the fact that "Point of Sales" systems having a completely appropriate acronym.

I've said this before as well. Ty did make mistakes, including some painful boomer moments, but the situation is the way it is primarily because Chupp Chupped, and even had Ty behaved like a perfect fictional TV lawyer, I don't think he could have improved his chances on appeal much more than he already is in. The opposing parties are insane and Chupp didn't let Ty actually do his job in court, etc etc. It's just people had memed Ty into an ultra lawyer to defeat the super lawyers and then it turned out he's just a normal lawyer who's a bit of a boomer, so with high expectations comes a big fall. I know some people have said Sam is 'the best' lawyer present, but he had the easiest case and didn't sperg out all over the place about it. He was also helped by the judge being a moron and literally agreed that his client's statement required a finding of facts with the judge. You can say "well he didn't let his client be deposed" but remember that Lemoine didn't plan to allow it either, and it was just a "TOO SMERT 4 U" plot to get more things to defame Vic with and then instantly file TCPA to prevent his clients from being deposed. Lemoine was stupid to allow his to be deposed at all for the hail mary of 'harass Vic, hope to twist his words and defame him into dropping the suit', but it's not a sign of competence from Funi or Marchi's lawyers not to shove their clients in as well so much as them doing it would have been a sign that they struggle to think and chew at the same time.

Sam's also the one who stuck a hidden message into his filings to own Nick, and then ruined half the fun by leaking it to Skye, instead of leaving it to be found by Nick or missed entirely. I personally believe he'll show himself to be as bad as anyone else involved, should he get called back in and given the opportunity to make a clown of himself.

It's the ingenious trick of this one. They know we'll never stop looking, so they'll never have to rule. Like a game of chicken where no matter what happens, they win.
You mention the major thing that Ty got very, very right and Lungmoine completely fucked up on. The depositions, and the leaking of the footage to Nick.
They are absolutely devastating for Moronica and great for Vic.

Rons deposition shows him to be a weasly little shit who refuses to comply, admits that he has jackshit for proof of his claims except hearsay and Monicas word, his malice is clear to see, and Ty got him to read out some of his most insane tweets out loud.
Sure, Ty could have grilled him way harder, but what he got was enough to completely ruin any credit that Ron had as an accuser. And that was before his past came out.

Monicas deposition is not as bad for her image, but still extremely telling.
She comes off as a shallow liar, from start to finish. Her retelling of the hotel incedent and her incredibly fake crying is not persuasive at all. Carrey did a great job in getting her to blabber about her jealousy toward Vic's success and popularity.

Contrast to those two, Vic's deposition is not only not damaging, it is hugely in his favor. He seems genuine, humble and very hurt by the events. It was a hilarious miscalculation to let Lemoine take most of his deposition. Spiteful asshole lawyer with a freakish voice needling handsome, charming softy. The worst things that he got out of him, Vic was cooperating fully btw, was that he cheated on his impersonal fiance and bought a prostitute once. In fact, he looks so good in this deposition, that was meant to damage him, that many people who never heatd of the guy started supporting him. Myself included.

As was said before, Ty was competent in the handling of the case, except the notary incident, and the chuppery wasn't his fault.

He did absolutely great in trying to save Vic's career and reputation however.
The depositions are one thing he did right, one other thing was that he got Kamehacon to take him back and cooperate with their side.

I didn't see it discussed before, but did anyone notice that he actively tried, and succeeded, in shielding Vic on social media by drawing the worst vitriol of KV on himself? That was surely the main reason why the old boomer joined Twitter and specifically tagged the rabid sheepdog with his first tweet.
That is probably one thing that Nick had actual input on, he himself very deliberately took flak on himself to protect to distract from Vic. And for that drama, the clicks and those sweet shekels ofc.

All in all, representation could have been way worse, and it was very much centered around helping their client.

It cannot be understated, Ty is used to dealing with sane people who just want to do business. He's used to dealing with people who WANT a solution. And while his own client DOES want a solution, the other side does not. And they're literally insane. It's easy for us to criticize, I really can't imagine having to actually deal with that kind of insanity.

Chupp frustrates me to no end... if this was a case between two parties, both acting like cows, it'd be different. In this case, you have a guy who just wants to voice in anime, who just wants to work, and absolutely loves his fans (and wants to be able to meet them). Vic, compared to everyone else involved, is normal (even with his gay ass pants). And the other side just wants to put him in an early grave. What Chupp did was an injustice.

Lazy judges aren't entertaining, they should just be nixed from the bench.

Agree like 98%. There could have been improvements in some cases and a more aggressive push, but I'll chalk up many of those gripes to Vic holding Ty back trying to be nice, and backseat driving/hindsight.

I think Ty might have assumed Chupp to be rational and see through the bullshit so he didnt need to be aggressive

Chupp made headline news yesterday. He granted a restraining order against a school district's mask mandate. Twitter is very upset.

But I thought Chupp could never do any wrong, or any judge for that matter, its what dumford and other lawltwatter tards have promised.

That Chupp video is amazing. I can't imagine the torture of having to interact with someone that stupid and lazy. He's not listening to answers, especially if they refer to a document he didn't read or a PDF bookmark he doesn't understand, he ain't got time for that shit. https://youtu.be/L7VnIJFw8LU?t=2961

Also, I don't know what's going on with the lung capacity in Texas but everybody's passing out as soon as they wear a mask for 5 minutes.

I'd say this is his redemption arc, but this is really just Chupp continuing to Chupp. His ruling had nothing to do with facts or the arguments put forth, it was just "I feel uncomfortable wearing a mask, therefore we shouldn't need to wear them." This is the same reasoning as "Vic is a public figure because there's people in the courthouse for the hearing", and refusing to listen to arguments or read PDFs is the same as him refusing to take Ty's binder or let him look things up. Just because he's right this time doesn't change that his methods are garbage, it just shows why you follow the rules and don't do cowboy judge justice.

The twitter mob isn't going to do anything to Chupp, though. He's in a deep red district, as I understand, and the people who vote for him are probably happy about his ruling.

While I have to laud him for saying fuck you to masks, he's just one disaster after another. Instead of getting into the constitutionality of forcing people to wear clothing they don't want to, he just uses discomfort as his basis.

Who knows. He might have arrived at the correct decision for Vic. But if the 2DCOA affirms him, he'll have reached that conclusion by blundering his way into it and doing everything wrong in the process.

:story:I clipped the best parts for the @LawTwitter Cheer Squad. Chupp shut down the weaselly science man's facts & logic with his own common sense questions. He got so annoyed at the answers he was getting, he abruptly ended the hearing and signed the restraining order.

He actually is using reasoning here. The guy he's talking to is just utterly failing to make the case and stumbling all over himself. After evading the answer multiple times Chupp just goes "Fuck it, I see where this is going".

Chupp's a retard, but if this clip is indicative of how the other person was responding the entire time then they are one too. Just answer his fucking questions in simple terms, or just cheapen out and use one of dozens of analogies.

A ruling on a government mandate in the midst of a pandemic gets the same amount of fucks (nil) as some random defamation case involving insane people. It's a joke that Chupp has his position, and a pretty funny one tbh.

Hilarious as it is to see him giving the reasonable questions that the mask mandates can't answer, it is interesting to see that, no, Vic's case wasn't "so open and shut the judge ruled from the bench" - it's just that Chupp is so lazy and unprofessional that he apparently regularly just cuts things short and rules instantly without even listening to arguments. Once again, this just shows how a judge can look good out of context when you glance at their behavior, but in reality it's laziness and unprofessionalism that leads to absolutely pants on head rulings like finding a random dude an independent contractor of a random company based on literally nothing.

This is also the same 'reasonable sounding' reasoning like "But you still got to go to Kamehacon, right? And can you prove any other TI?" - based on zero percent law and one hundred percent 'I dunno, it sounds right'.
