There is nothing redeemable about the trust fund babies that make up the ruling class. They are inept and incapable. They LARP as the competent, serious white men they learned about from decades past that used to occupy those roles. But they can not maintain, let alone replicate the standards of their forebears. As a result they lurch from one great disaster to the next even greater one. The one thing this latest debacle underscores is just how weak their actual enforcement capabilities are. Given that they only remain in power at this point via the threat and credibility of force, that certainly presents some interesting food for thought in the coming years as they get more mean, more desperate, and more bumbling.

This didn't need to happen this way.

While pulling out of a failed war resulting in Islamists taking over the "country" was inevitable, there was absolutely no planning in regards to evacuating the Afghans who worked for us.

This is shameful, and while I'm not sure I blame Biden, he is going to eat shit for this rightly or wrongly.

Afghanistan currently produces 90% of the world's heroin. Taliban does not approve of opium production. They are going to burn all the poppy fields.
doesn't matter if I was right or wrong. there is still going to be a major drop in heroin supply. Price will rise and Junkies will become more desperate for a fix. Invest in heroin and heroin substitutes and heroin related prostitution.

Additionally, USAID tried to build its own little Globohomo Youth League in Afghanistan (women 15 to 30) who would then go on to government, media, and NGO sinecures ( the 'PROMOTE program'). And I'm going to flog this dead horse until it's a nice thin paste: How many of these educated women picked up rifles in defense the Afghan state or their own 'rights'? Probably none, or a number between the digits of one hand and zero. That's good news actually, but it ain't gonna change shit in the long run, production will just move somewhere else. I wonder if the Golden Triangle will return to the good old days back when the CIA was flying planes full of H. If not, where else would it be grown? Somewhere in South America?
