How
If popcorn gives you physical and mental issues, don't buy it and have it in the house?? Why is that so difficult?
Yeah this is MATI territory here. ED is serious as food is a necessity and we need to eat every day to not die. But like....if your trigger foods aren't foods you need to keep on hand then just don't. It's so simple.

I'm starting to think she doesn't have an ED at all, and is just fat, lazy and loves to eat.

She definitely has an eating disorder, but it's not the restrictive kind she claims to have. She can't plan and eat a regular, no frills, healthy meal until she's satiated without having a 5000 word essay's worth of feelings and post hoc rationalizations about it. Food is always an emotional minefield for her. She makes a show of "giving herself permission" to eat whatever amount of whatever poisonous garbage she craves in the moment, because somehow that's healthier than getting intensive therapy so she can just eat food and not have it be a big emotional production every time. Her kids are going to grow up with no concept of "be hungry, make a sandwich, eat it and move on with your life" like normal people.

I've accidentally opened selfie cam and looked like a potato, but my double chin is because im leaning back, not because I have a giant fat roll under my chin.

Also if you have such a fucking problem with popcorn stop buying it. It isn't even very high in calories if you don't drench it in butter. You have control over your kids dietary choices and if your husband likes it, ask him to stop eating it around you + keep it somewhere secret. If someone in my family admitted to that I would avoid eating it around them.

She has no intention of truly giving up popcorn. Or fried chicken. Or McDonald's.

True. Ironically you can eat all 3 while being a normal weight, but it requires having them once in a while and not in gigantic portions. I don't eat mcdicks but I eat fried chicken about once a month and popcorn is good sometimes.

It's about eating a serving for one versus a serving for a family of four. I love fried chicken but I cannot imagine eating it every night as a bedtime snack like Kelly does.

Remember that guy who lost 50lbs on Twinkies only? I'm sure there's a way to eat fried chicken every night, it's just about not eating an entire bucket as a snack. If you really want something, you can fit it in your meal plan just by modifying the rest of it a little bit.

But the word "moderation" is automatically gonna throw Kelly into muh-ED territory and then she'll have to re-feed for 12.000 calories just to make sure she won't become anorexic.

Calorie deficit, simple as that. You can eat a portion of fried chicken (let's hypothesise that Kelly can do normal-person portions 🌈) as long as you do enough activity to burn off that chicken plus a little more.

And yeah, work it into a meal plan. Planning meals is a mega pain in the arse but it works. On the downside it might mean Kelly sacrificing her bedtime bucket if she's reached her calories for the day and then we'll probably be treated to a screed about 'self-care means never denying yourself' or some similar bollocks.
