Couple places my pesimistic mind goes with this in general:
1) The Taliban leaders are, by some uncharacteristic competence, CIA assets. They boil the frog slow from within. In three to four generations you have trans Afghanies shooting onlyfans videos in the local McDonalds restroom.
2) This was a directive to allow China to take a crack at turning Afghans in to credit score having chattel.
3) Just another "who gives a fuck" by the system, they'll happily take the current PR losses, it's a great excuse to import more easily entrapped third worlders to replace their troublesome native populations, and they figure nothing really is stopping them from going back to the middle east again after letting the fields go fallow for a few years.
