US Joe Biden News Megathread - The Other Biden Derangement Syndrome Thread (with a side order of Fauci Derangement Syndrome)

Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I hope this fuck up is the worst that Biden/Kamala have to offer. Because if Taiwan kicks off, regardless of winners, losers or any outcome in between, shit will hit the fan big time.

No electronic equipment coming from TSCM or FOXXCON? It won't just be your gamers affected, but the big companies as well.

Amazon not being able to ship shit from China? Bye-bye Amazon.
Tesla not being able to get batteries from China? Bye-bye Tesla
Apple not being able to build or sell any new gadgets, from phones to macbooks to ipads? Bye-Bye Apple.
General Motors can't sell cars because of the new smart equipment? Bye-Bye car industry (double-whammy with petrol prices)

The knock-on effect it will have to companies looking to upgrade their IT infrastructure, PLC units on pipelines and manufacturing plants, will be very big.

A conflict or dispute with China over Taiwan means the majority of the western economy stops. Buy seeds, Buy a big freezer, grow your own food.
It'd be equally catastrophic to China though. China is -entirely reliant- on selling things to the West. Neither side would survive that economically. The thing is, Long-term the West could recover... China cannot. The question then is, "Does Chinese Pride trump everything?"

How long before Biden is rated as a worse president than even Wilson? :story: Ole' Jimmy is probably enjoying the show; finally, someone in modern history who's worse than him.
It would take a hell of a lot for Biden to be worse than Wilson. Him entering the US into WW1 at the eleventh hour let the Entente drag out the war another year and punish Germany instead of everybody giving up and going home, which means no Weimar, no Mean Mr. Mustache, and probably no Cold War and all the bullshit that brought and we're still dealing with. Not to mention the Fed and 17th-19th amendments.

Ive been thinking about this, and something people are not considering is CNN's crew trapped over there. One of them has already been murdered and there is a very real possibility more will follow in the coming hours.

How would it feel if you supported a man who got your coworkers and friends killed? Even among the less morally inclined it must sting to realize your expendable, that no one high up gives a rats ass about your safety over over an afghan.

I wonder how many people involved with the 2020 voting will have guilty consciences over this. It would only take one to bring the whole dam thing down.

Probably not a single one. They speared their white whale and that’s all that mattered to them.

Your average dem political animal in that scenario isn’t that far removed from our pet wrestler. Angry and bitter despite getting exactly what they wanted in the exact one way it could have have gone. Was the venal dipshit really better than the egomaniac? Keep in mind that Obama was calling Joe an incompentent fuck a decade ago when he was still unambiguously lucid.

Here's the thing though. They dismissed Biden being incompetent before. It was a 'right-wing conspiracy' or 'there was more context' or 'it's exaggerated. They safely rationalized it away because Orange Man Bad. But this is much, much harder to rationalize. This is proof, stark, ugly, undeniable proof. They can deny third, fourth, even fifth hand account seasily. They cannot deny their own experience anywhere near so easily.

You guys remember the REEEEE when Trump supposedly "abandoned" the Kurds.
We are not abandoning the Afghanis now are we?
You cannot have both ways.
Someone said about this being burned into peoples memory. At this point forgive the theater and underwater basket weaving degrees loans. Money means shit, placate the "muh student loan" people.

But this is much, much harder to rationalize.
To the people directly working for the apparatus, maybe; but not for the rank and file. I know people that straight up call November 3rd Redemption Day. I know people that became straight up angry when I cracked jokes about how the faggot never left his basement. I know you see less fucked up polls because it’s a big part of your job, but these people will circle the wagons with smiles on their faces when a more photogenic humanitarian disaster strikes. Anything to make them stop looking at the monster in the mirror.

If it helps, the number of people who seem to be there is about 10%. 20% at maximum. The overwhelming reaction to this has been disapproval of Biden specifically. Was honestly a pretty big white pill for the entire office, we had a betting pool of what it'd be and nobody had even bet below thirty.

I don't entirely agree.

China could increase the cost of business enough that it hurt the west, a lot. Because we're not dealing with businesses any more, we are dealing with the consumers that those businesses created. They've unleashed a monster that wants, and wants it now.

No new Apple or Samsung phones for 5 years, but here's a Huawei and xiamoi phone, tablet and laptop.

Will the consumers say "NO! WE WANT APPLE!" or will they say "*soy smile* OMG NEW SHINY SHINY"

It's not entirely Biden fault though. The blame lays with him ultimately, but you're now on your second round of presidents who have been lied to and misled by the generals.

If Biden had backbone, they would be send out back and old yellered

Largely, NO! WE WANT APPLE!

I personally find it disgusting, but the want for the Next Thing is largely company-specific. They are absurdly, disgustingly, horrifyingly loyal to the brand not just the new shiny toy. They will go through hoops to defend the company, but then barely make use of the toy itself. Also, assuming not a war situation in which case buying those things would be difficult to say the least, and instead of a steady price rise or even sudden price hike. Nothing would be stopping companies from transitioning to more local, cheaper sources while just eating the higher costs in the short term.

Amazon just yeeted over 50k Chinese vendors from their system
Tesla makes their batteries in Nevada
A LOT of companies have been moving to more local sources due to supply issues. Ironically, if Covid was an intentional release it's hurting China economically. Quite a few companies and even countries are rethinking how much of their stuff comes from China now that they know how vulnerable their supply lines are, and ironically the continuing lockdown bullshit is only reinforcing that.

because they have been programmed that way. It wouldn't take long for the media marketing machine to turn away from apple to another product. Or, Apple keep making products and whap the price up 300%

Lol. Companies taking a hit in profits? Highly bloody unlikely. Doing so after a pandemic? Not happening. And that's if they can get the parts to make the phones.

All hypothetically.

Mother nature has been bitch slapping China pretty hard, so they also need to buy food stuffs from outside of China. I think Australia has had it with them and is in the process of telling them to get fucked. The US sells a lot of grains to China and China owns most of US pork production.

Companies take hits all the time. Sure, it'd be bigger than normal but opening up new factories or shifting products, or simple R&D are all hits to profits. Apple could halve its R&D budget and be able to fund everything it needed to be self-sufficient within three years. It just makes that much money. The problem with your proposed scenario is that the point it becomes economically incentivized to move production, supply, or manufacture elsewhere is significantly below the point it'd actually seriously harm the company to make the move.

It's why China has been very reluctant to leverage its economic might in this arena, and why it cried uncle first when Trump began slapping sanctions down.

I'd note that's not a good thing for us either. If Trade were to break down between us, it'd mean the Grain and Pork sectors would have a significant unused surplus. Would make them really cheap domestically, but we'd also take an economic hit as they go unused. Though it's much easier to adapt to an unused surplus than a deficit.
