The Commander of 82nd Airborne is NOT a political animal at first glance.

He joined the Army in 1992. Meaning he's around 30 years in uniform.

He was a member of Delta Force. They didn't loose some equipment, they lost an entire base full of the tools and information needed to maintain that equipment. If they didn't scuttle the embassy IT systems, there's very little likelihood that they scuttled the resources on the air base when they were running out in the middle of the night w/no warning. The Taliban now have more modern equipment than about 166 countries. They'll very likely sell off a good portion of it to Russia and China for their use and to be able to reverse engineer it. AND, when faced with the choice of maintaining that air base w/multiple runways and all their equipment vs the embassy, they chose to keep the embassy and abandon the base. Probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

Also, for those that missed it in the video above, planes have already been flown out of the country into Uzbekistan and the US isn't sure how many have been sent out or where they went.

I've read some where that the Taliban didn't start their offensive until May 2nd. I think they were abiding by the Trump agreement to the letter and now have decided to shame the US in every way possible (possibly with coaching by China). I would not be surprised if they abide by the Sep 11th deadline to the letter (as in nothing happens and every US person is supposed to get the fuck out). Then on the 12th, they round up everyone left and turn it into a massive PR shit show for the US.

This assumes that the tech to defeat the tech exists (e.g. some of it is basic physics of propulsion) and that the tech to build different types of shields exists. Them having the ability to reverse-engineer our tech definitely levels the field, but new evasion tech or new offensive tech still relies on development of new fundamental technologies, like basic propulsion.
