That's my point though. We are at a point where the political capital and fighting is something that should be on the backburner. American lives are in danger, right now. Maybe I had too much hope for the mid tier leadership in the military, I always knew the suit and tie types were just west point grads who probably didn't see any real combat, but it strikes me as very disheartening that we don't have anyone in between "rank and file grunts" and "suit and tie at the pentagon" who is willing to say "fuck the job, let them court martial me". Because, seriously. It's not even a risk to their job at that point, even if the military wanted to court marshal some unit for going out and pulling Americans out, the optics of something like that would make it so radioactive that not even a braindead corpse like Biden would think it was a good idea.
