I love the screaming and crying about OF from all of its users.

It was never designed for porn and even if it was, a business do whatever they want with their platform. It's not like online porn just crumbles without OF.

It existed long before OF and will exist long after it.

What we have is a bunch of entitled people who are mad that they're not being catered to, and that the most obvious easy route has been taken away from them. Now if they want to make money at sex work, they're going to have to put in effort. God forbid, they'll even have to make their own web page and advertise just like archaic people did in 2019!

It reminds me about MLMers who buy into a larger company and then call themselves the CEO.

Yeah, I read a few of the BBC articles that just happened to come out before OF shut down their porn. Apparently they spoke to American investigators saying they were seeing 30-40 CP images originating from OnlyFans per week.

Also, the company (which is British) could not be bothered to hire foreign-language moderators: the BBC investigators apparently put up profiles in French and German openly saying they were young teens and offering explicit images, and no one investigated even though it could easily have been picked up if they'd bothered to look for keywords. And that's French and German. Imagine what was going on with the more obscure languages.

But of course, we are once again asked to center in our thoughts the poor, oppressed trannies. Not the kids getting raped on screen or the women getting trafficked.

Ahh, that's where your mistake is. Yes, they would like to make money off of OF, but the most important thing to them is to put on a show of making it as a sex worker. Most people on OF don't make anywhere close to enough to live on, the real importance of OF to most of the trans community is as a LARP venue where they can get their rocks off by pretending to be a hooker.

Gender dysphoria does exist, but I'm not convinced that it's a disease in and of itself so much as a symptom or a syndrome of various mental illnesses (look up delusional pseudotranssexuality). In a way, the treatment of gender dysphoria as it's own disease opened the door to the completely ludicrous theory of gender identity, because if delusions about your sex were completely removed from any other delusions then wouldn't it stand to reason that your idea of your sex was somehow removed from the rest of your mental state? And wouldn't that imply some part of your brain is dedicated to maintaining your gender? And that became the idea of gender identity.

But once you accept the idea of gender identity you then have to accept the idea of innate gender. But that's clearly not a very progressive idea and you need to make this clearly regressive and sexist idea of gender identity work within a progressive framework (you know, since this whole exercise is due to progressives wanting to be compassionate to people with gender dysphoria). Tying gender identity to any sort of observable characteristics (mental or social) would be restrictive, so in order to avoid gender identity just becoming scientific sexism (or at least avoid it being to obvious) they decided that gender identity wouldn't be a box that you were put in but a box you chose for yourself, leading to the idea of self-identification. That's how we got to today, where gender identity is simultaneously so important that we need to prioritize it in policy making, but completely unobservable and untestable so we just need to take people's word.

tl;dr: progressives wanted to be kind to gender dysphorics and treat it as completely removed from the various mental illnesses that cause it, this led to the concept of gender identity as its own distinct thing in the human psyche. In order to distinguish gender identity from old-fashioned scientific sexism the concept of self-identification was created. All of this gender nonsense comes from the attempt to be compassionate towards people with gender dysphoria and we really should treat it as a symptom of other diseases.
