Taliban offensive of 2021 and collapse of Afghan government.

China has not gotten sucked into any military adventurism because they have never had the chance with adjacent borders. Afghanistan is their first chance to get their dick stuck in the hornets nest.
they did get themselves sucked into korea (which turned out partially successful) and into vietnam (which was mostly a failure) though
i still dont think they will pounce on afghanistan in the near future. their expansionism sights are set on hong kong first, taiwan second, and the south china sea third. no room for afghanistan memes.

Mao got sucked into Korea, and took the rest of China with him, because he was 100% gay for Stalin.

Vietnam was a punitive expedition back when China was playing regional power games and attempting to show that they were more serious about exporting the revolution than the USSR and thus they should be the ones incharge of the Warsaw pact instead of the Rooskis.
China probably would have wanted to make Vietnam permanent, but Vietnam was protected by Soviet Senpai desu~ so had to back off.

Again, they are not intending to get sucked into Afghanistan, but it they start relying on Iran, that will be the end result.

It's a long walk requiring China to be as dumb as the US at every turn for about 10 steps for that fanfic saga prophecy to come to pass.

If anyone ITT wants to become a world superpower here is my protip: don't actually be retarded

China will wait to see how Afghanistan turns out before it makes any moves. The Taliban have been established as the defacto leaders of the entire country for a single week. This duration is far too small to see if there is going to be a rebellion formed. Remember that the resistance to the American regime didn't start until a better part of a month or two, I believe the Blackwater guys got strung up in March 2004, a full year after the invasion though widespread violence and rebellion had been in full motion by that point. The Blackwater bridge incident is the moment the press could no longer sugar coat it.

Very true and there is, from what I've heard, a new small resistance movement that's sprung up in the Panjshir Valley with several anti-Taliban warlords banding together with remnants of the ANA that still wanted to fight and resist the Taliban forces. One of them includes the son of legendary anti-Taliban resistance leader Ahmad Massoud who also originally resisted the Soviet forces in Afghanistan.

Not sure what their odds on survival are but I know the Russians think they're destined to fail but a former chief of staff in India thinks the Indian military should provide them support.

If they're relying on the poo military to save them they're fucked.

It's one thing to do some good old fashioned genocide behind your own borders, but will the international community really just stand by while the Chinese are ethnic cleaning on someone else's property?
What else can they do? They boxed themselves in to a corner by calling Trump a racist for calling covid the china virus.

It's going to be the text version of the two button meme:

"Criticise China and be called a racist" or "Agree Genocide is a good thing and be called a racist islamaphobe"

*NPC sweating intensifies*

that's actually why the Chinese have made their in-roads - their loans are actually a lot more generous, hence why Africa jumped on board the second that those offers came. some of south america too, but over there they did get burned with Venezuela I think, after it fucked things up.

but that's actually the point - the IMF was literally offering these horrific deals and when China likely stepped in to actually bail some of them out and hook them on their line instead, they found it more acceptable. still with hooks and strings attached for shit like naval bases and tapping communications and repaying those loans, sure, but nowhere near as vampiric as that of the IMF.
Nah the chink deals are waaaaay worse than the IMF's, fucking usury

The BIG difference is that the chinks dont give a fuck what you do with the money, while the IMF wants you to use it for infrastructure and schools and gendershit the chinks dont care if the benevolent leader of the regime outright steals the money as long as they pay the insane interests and meet all demands like letting chink corporations rape the fuck out of the country

But if you're a corrupt fuck what do you care if the chinks give cancer to children in your country? they let you take the money straight to your swiss bank account

"No" alone has proven a pretty bad strategy for opposing anything political. It doesn't give people much to talk about, but worse it makes the middle ground somewhere between zero and infinite steps in a bad direction.

The proper response to wanting to import Afghanis is something along the lines of "We might accept a million Afghans after we've deported six million illegals."
"We'll give Basketball Americans reparations on the condition that they repatriate to Africa."
"We'll allow you to offer a CRT course to our kids after "Democracy: The God That Failed" and Henry Ford's seminal works are made mandatory reading."

So yeah, containment news networks won't rally behind it, but no Afghanis or any other refugees until we deport seven fold illegals and finish the wall. From that position we can find a middle ground.

the soviets didn't go there to conquer and purge the land, they went there to keep the preexisting afghan communist regime alive, which was under threat from mujahideen insurgents. it was an ideological thing for them, they absolutely could not allow a glorious socialist regime right in their backyard to be dethroned by backwards religious lunatics, because such a failure would have been seen as a disgrace to international communism.
Brezhnev was stupid enough to codify this principle into one that bore his name. The Brezhnev Doctrine. He had to intervene in Afghanistan to try and preserve it, even though by any measure Marx ever came up with Afghanistan was as ready for Communism as it was for ballroom dancing. I guess it kind of made sense as a rationale to invade Czechoslovakia
in 1968. Not so much Afghanistan in 1980.

The most amusing thing about the Afghan-Soviet stuff is that the Soviets were absolutely seething mad that the King was overthrown and a communist government was installed. Particularly one that was far more radical than anything the Soviets were willing to entertain under a conservative like Brezhnev. The USSR had good relations with the Afghan Kingdom and didn't want to upset the standing order as it was a productive relationship.

This is the one distinction people overlook comparing this happening to the USSR's, the 1979 invasion was spearheaded by a man that was drugged up beyond even Biden's wildest dreams, while the US invasion was done by a man that very well knew what he was doing the whole time (muh oil, muh revenge, muh making dad proud, etc). The soviet exit from the region fell under a man that while competent couldn't do anything to hold the experiment together any more. The american exit is being done by the same crew that wrote Springtime for Hitler with someone about two steps away from being Brezhnev's long lost brother being used as the face of things.

That's the strategy the dems used against Reagan: amnesty now in exchange for border protection later. Of course, later never comes

China wants to play friendly trade partner and big lender to the Taliban in order to build the Belt and Road initiative through Afghanistan. It’s kind of hypocritical on both sides given the way China treats its Uighur Muslims but that’s business between countries. I bet the Chinese will loan the Taliban a shit load of money and then they’ll ask for some rare earth mineral mines to pay back the loan. The Taliban will then fuck up China’s shit in Afghanistan and then China will get involved. Just a theory right now.

The Dehmazang area of Kabul is now ablaze with a huge fire that looks to encompass multiple city blocks. Reports of warehouses with fuel tanks being the reason for the conflagration but those are really just rumors, a fire can start anywhere in a place like Kabul, it's been hot and dry there, a cigarette butt or kitchen appliance fire is all that's needed to set it ablaze.

Here's the insane bit, though.

There are no firefighters. Kabul is looking at the capabilities of firefighting that maybe an outlying Roman province might have had 2000 years ago. In a city of 5 million people.

They will be doing whatever they can to lower the official number of casualties, but I don't see any way thousands of people aren't burning to death/trampled fleeing fires right now and through tomorrow.

The fire is now by the Kabul Zoo, which has not been emptied of animals. If it smells like barbecue over in that area, pour one out for Khanzir, a donation from China who holds the distinction of being the only pig in Afghanistan.

Cool, its a literal Dumpster Fire now.
