I mean, as much as I believe he was probably put up to it, I'm not sure what the trolls were supposed to do, if they were of the mind to do the right thing.

I doubt the cops would have paid attention to emails or even phone calls unless one of the trolls actually came in and made a complaint in person. Obviously, once they start getting hundreds of phone calls and more importantly inquiries from media, that's an entirely different matter.

In the full unedited phone call recording, Chris basically admitted that he did it on his own volition because "he was very horny" - so I think proving he had no responsibility for his actions is basically impossible at this point.

I agree with you that the full (15 minute) audio call sounds slightly less damning for Kelly Osborn a/k/a Bella. Still though on balance of evidence it totally sounds like they have been grooming him for this shit for a while.
