YouTubers you hate that everyone else likes

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
Industry plants. Generally mainstream media attempting to inject themselves deeper than they already have into Youtube or just various businesses trying to act like indie creators making videos from home by themselves. Advertizers have started to ape commentary Youtubers content and basically have for several years so it's obvious how easy it would be. One actual example though is the Brew/Tea spill/whatever the other channel is called group. They tried to act like they were singular creators making commentary content but they all have the same artstyle, similar "comedy" and tied each other together with appearances from characters on seperate channels. Turns out it was all run by some guy trying to make a multi channel business. I definitely agree with the sentiment that Scott is also a likely one, I've said this in other threads but he came out of nowhere and instantly gained a following, and had pretty good production value from the get-go. Barely a year into his channel and he was already doing collabs and large projects. Plus his content is just a bit too squeaky clean and also incorporates the sketch comedy that previous groups like Channel Awesome did as well as Normal Boots. Not sure about Kurtis but all of these milquetoast watered down versions of yesteryear's commentary channels like Leafy but with all of the edginess erased have been making bank, and it's some of the easiest shit ever to do what they do.

I personally agree that many youtubers are plants or at least report to a higher power , like remember net neutrality and how withing a week many large youtubers were apeing the point that the internet would be kill if it got repealed , then after it got repealed it was never mentioned again. I fully believe it was all some political thing and showed just how many youtubers have zero morals , as better help showed.

But personally i dont think scott is a plant , i dont see anyone making any money or gains off him other than himself and nintendo to some extent.

The net neutrality thing, team trees, whatever. I don't think it's necessarily a sign that they're under the control of a higher MCM or something but more that most top youtubers get where they are by aping trends or getting to something early, and fall prey to peer pressure very easily. Net neutrality was basically the putting #blm in your username of it's day except less annoying and stupid. As for Scott, he's one of the largest gaming channels on Youtube since Jontron switched away from making exclusively content around gaming culture. Look at other channels in this category, especially ones that have been long standing, to see how businesses attempt to milk cash cows like this. AVGN is owned by a company that basically makes content for that series with James basically not even doing it himself at all anymore.

Resident pedophile-enabling, 13 year old girl cult-creating fatman Dream, his content is fucking boring and archiving so much stuff in his thread made me want to shoot myself. I had to learn how to use Twitter, which was dreadful, and the bizarre ARG-like twists to his internet history and his decision to use his fitboy brother as a body double kept me from sleeping properly all Summer.

Reality truly is stranger than fiction.

Memes lose their edge when there's a fundraiser for a "queer" or "diverse" charity shoved right fucking under each one
This. Very saddened that Chris Voiceman seems to try and get into these circles now. Sure, 4chan memes aren't going to make you a millionaire famous person but cmon.

Ive learned that all meme tubers just do it for clout/money , they care more for getting big off the back of much funnier people and using that platform as a soapbox for the flavor of the week social movement , they are the twitter gimmick accounts of youtube.

How is he a pedophile enabler? The only things I really know about him are he's a fat guy who does MineCraft videos, and his whole saga with John Swan that ended with John Swan admitting to lying and making a good amount of the commentary community look like Idiots by taking him at his word.

I did a thread search on these two and got no hits, but hard to believe they've not already been mentioned. Maybe it's the "everyone else likes" but they get a tonne of views and make a tonne of money so I'm going to count them...

  • How it Should have Ended
  • Honest Trailers
  • CinemaSins
Each of the above started out passably funny and have progressively disappeared up their own arseholes with the passing years. HISHE can still wring some marginal humour out of its Villain Pub but those are the last drops. I'm a big movie buff so used to watch them but all three don't even crack a smile with me anymore.

i kinda just stopped watching hishe after they basically only started doing marvel/dc/disney stuff. they almost never make videos on other movies coming out. plus the content droughts of the channel are rather long

Everything is in the thread. The thread is a headache to go through but I'm sure I'll be able to find the actual posts with the screencaps later. The long and short of it is that Sam, his bpd ex-gf, would "date" and groom underage people, and a good number of them began to come forward with accusations. Dream proceeded to ignore most accusations and later tried to excuse her behaviour with her mental illness.

Definitely a hot take but RLM

Aside from a few of their Half in the Bag skits, I really don't find them entertaining. Or, well, smart. They have fairly milquetoast takes on popular movies and present it in an "I don't care about anything" style and everyone treats them like Jesus Christ. I guess they're good as like background noise for when I'm playing video games? I don't think they're much better than that.

Edit: They also have the annoying penchant to be dickish about how much they hate Marvel and other high budget entertainment movies, to really annoying and pretentious degree. It's not even that I would be considered part of that demographic, my skin isn't that thin. It just feels so forced and unfunny, even if I wanted to laugh alongside them.

Binging with Babish. Don't like his face, don't like his voice, don't like his videos. I likely wouldn't dislike him as much as I do except no matter how much I downvote or block his videos he's constantly suggested to me.

I'm pretty sure the dude spoke on behalf of Burn Loot Murder last year, which is around the same time I discovered the BlockTube extension that allows you to completely block any trace of a specific channel or group along with the associated playlists out of view.

Channels I hate that everyone likes:
  • Those Irish media analysis channels, you know, Super Eyepatch Wolf, Ryan Hollinger; there voices grate on me so much that I want to wipe out Ireland
  • Anthony Fantano. Prior to the FADER shitshow, dude was a nice guy, and while political, didn't let it get the best of him. After that, he threw out his old /mu/ fanbase, became a soydrinking cuck, who tries so hard to appease black people that he married one.
  • 99% of animation related channels, including anitubers and the western animation community. I love cartoons a shit ton but these people all stem from a huge case of arrested development who are all easily butthurt. I say 99% because the 1% are usually animation creators themselves, and I'd rather just directly support those types. I don't hate those. With Anitubers, most of them are shills except Demolition D who is an alcoholic fuck too busy killing his liver (I like his content though).
  • A Dose of Buckley. Once upon a time, I liked his stuff. He was one of the few that could satisfy my dark comedy thirst, so to speak. However, overtime he became alot more "I'm better than you" sounding despite saying he's not, dudes a hypocrite, and I can only stand so much of his negativity before wanting to blow both his and my goddamn heads out.
  • Scott the Woz: lmao he's a twink. Seriously though, I just don't care for his content.
  • 98% of Vtubers. I still enjoy Korone and Pikamee, despite my hatred of their fans they're all so one note and boring. And fuck Nyanners for doing voice requests for /a/, disowning them to become a SJW, and then doing edgy shit again but in the guise of an 'uwu im a cat gril' cunt. I understand why people hate the two I listed that I enjoy, but whatever.
  • I Hate Everything: one, you're more indifferent towards everything. two, you suck at analysis. (his side channel podcast at JAR Media is alright, I guess)
I've got dozens and dozens more but that's where I'll stop for now

I have a weird, autistic rule. With some exceptions, any channel that goes beyond a million subs, I usually unsubscribe soon after, not because I'm a hipster about it, but because that's when their ego gets the best of them or the deviate so far from the norm that they stop becoming fun or funny.

How many times was Crash Course mentioned in here?
I actually had to watch their channels in my college classes. I'm not kidding

If I'm already subscribed to a channel with > 1M subs, I'll stick with them as long as their egos remain in check (Mighty Car Mods, Jim Browning and Techmoan are channels I can think of with > 1M subs that haven't disappeared up their own arseholes because Gold Play Button).

That said, if YT tries recommending a channel with > 1M subs that I'm not already subscribed to, I'll ask YT not to recommend the channel again. Same deal with new videos that have an insane number of views in a short period (say 100k+ within 24 hours). If a channel is that popular and I haven't found it yet (or it hasn't found me), I'm not interested.

Man, you are so right about this. Super Eyepatch Wolf has a cadence to his voice that makes everything sound so dramatic. Man, I'm just watching a video on HxH, this isn't a retelling of the bombing of Hiroshima.

I fell out of love with Honest Trailers when they started to become unironic sycophants for the mainstream approved options, as well as their political opinions.
