Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

If that is true, Taiwan just got prewarned, and they're no doubt calling up the White House to confirm, and they're definitely calling up Japan and SK to see what they can and cannot do to help just in case. Given Taiwan's rapid naval armament, this is really the only time for China to pull a move unless they want to deal with a triple-whammy of Japan's "multi-mission destroyers" that somehow contain full F-35B capability (pay no attention to the fact the JS Kaga happens to share a name with a WW2 aircraft carrier and is roughly the same size and displacement, just a coincidence), Taiwan's own land-based airpower and anti-shipping weapons, plus the diesel-electric coastal attack subs that are currently on order.

Hence why I don't think a cross-strait invasion is in the cards for China, at least not in the near future. They're going to risk too much on a very hard target they have little hope of taking without just flattening it with ballistic missiles. Far easier to grab a couple of islands within sight of the mainland, bluff America over it and convince Taiwan to join them 'peacefully' if the US bitches out.

To this day the only time I've ever been creeped out on the internet was when the London bridge attack happened , some anon had posted snapshots where there was a thread a few hours before the event, another anon had posted a puzzle the night before that had several layers. I forget the exact order but the poster had just posted a vague picture that had a pastebin link, which had binary code, which led to something else which led to latitudinal geo coordinates for: London bridge.

Oh no, I'm agreeing with you on the islands bit. Which is why I'm saying that now is the only time even that is possible, since in a year or so there's going to be enough highly unfriendly naval tonnage in the area to make any aggressive moves on West Taiwan's part an impossibility instead of merely highly difficult.

But the Taliban aren't stupid and/or suicidal, goatfuckers they may be. They may threaten to set one off as a negotiation tactic but I highly and seriously doubt they would actually set one off, anywhere.

I mean there's a lot leverage with tactical nukes and Afghans are great negotiators, like Trump said. The people running our nation are not.

You don't even threaten with WMD's. Everyone here needs to understand this. The very mention of potential WMD usage is potential casus belli for a preemptive strike in kind if the threat is credible, and even if it isn't, its the sort of mass casualty threat that is casus belli for even a conventional assault. Anyone else remember the WMD talk floating around in the early 2000's and what that lead to? If the Taliban even thinks about waving the WMD dick around we're just going to call up the B-52's and carpet bomb the whole damn place and say it was us or them, and so long as the Cabal can make the threat credible, no American is going to give a shit about the collateral damage, so they get a big win, some of that political capital @Gehenna talks about. The Taliban absolutely cannot afford any threat that lets the Biden admin roll the thunder out on them, not that they've come out into the open like this.

If things keep escalating, that may turn into a plea for assistance and liberation.

And you don't want to go down that road. The Taliban aren't good. Islam is incompatible with the West. But the uniparty, the progressives, the SJW's, and IdPol jackasses are inviting this very thing, and they DON'T WANT TO GO DOWN THAT ROAD, but we may see a mass reckoning for certain demographics that will make the Antebellum and the Holocaust seem picturesque.
