Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

McCain's highest point in polling was right after he nominated her,
They had great speech writers and she is like the world's best MP3 player. You could load her up with scripts and she'd delivery them great. But, she was also very much into the Seven Mountains mandate and in the few unscripted interactions that were allowed to be made public, she just was not a thinker type person. Remember, people were questioning if McCain would make it through a full term, so they had to look at her as a very real possible POTUS.

You just described Obama's entire career. The difference between them was the media treatment.

That the three most liberal justices tried to defend this bullshit is the scary part, this should have been 8-1 at most.
Considering that two of them have the garbage "living constitution" judicial philosophy (aka the make shit up because you don't like the way the Constitution doesn't let you just ram shit through the legislature judicial philosophy) it's not too much of a surprise.
I'm thinking history is going to be a lot kinder to Trump regarding COVID.
It might take a while, Richard Nixon having four terms was shorthand for bad alternate timeline for a long long time.
Archive of Milley saying that Bagram is not necessary for the withdrawl.
It's not, if by withdrawal you mean the federal government withdrawing support for American citizens stranded in Afghanistan.
As they rightly should be. Japan needs to get rid of Article 9 ASAP and needs to create a united front with Taiwan. If Taiwan goes, then that's it for all the little squinty-eyed Island nations.
Or ignore it, at least that's the American style.

When I was a kid, my father got DVDs of Brer Rabbit animations as well as the Song of the South. We never watched them, but I thought it was kind of dumb that his reason for having them was that they will eventually be censored from history. Only when I became an adult did I realize how prescient he was. One day, the globohomos will succeed in censoring things like Brer Rabbit from the internet.

They're already working on removing the ride with brer rabbit from the Disney parks

What happened to Palin was exactly what happened to Trump but ten years earlier. Even Bush in his second term didn't have as much shit flung his way. Leftists hacked her email account, wished raped on her and tried to pressure her to abort her baby because it had Down Syndrome. And then after the election a "journalist" moved in next door to her just to harass her and her family even more. If you weren't a dyed-in-the-wool right winger in 2008 you were bombarded with the most vile anti-Palin takes imaginable. And for her efforts of sticking her neck out and actually trying to even pretend to care about the people voting for her party good old Hanoi John threw her under the bus and blamed her for his loss, despite (as @Krokodil Overdose pointed out) his polling figures actually shooting up after announcing her as his running mate.

Palin was a flawed candidate and you can make the case that she was literally a last minute pick which led to minimum vetting because Joe Lieberman (who McCain wanted as his VP) opted not to commit political suicide switching parties like that.

Unlike Palin, Trump at least made the attempt to get to normies and jaded liberals pissed off at the creeping fascism in the DNC. Palin was 100% preaching to the choir and attacking the left rather than bringing disillusioned moderates and normies into the party, the way Trump did with regards to calling out the left's hypocrisy in a way that allowed him to exploit the collapse of the alliance system that makes up the modern left.
