To be more exact, Hillary explicitly voted for the Iraq War SOLELY for craven cowardly political reasons as she fully expected that any vote against the war would be used againstg her by the GOP when she inevitably ran for President. Even SNL was calling Hillary out on it, which was huge at the time.

Her vote for war in Iraq ended up backfiring on her, as Hillary never fucking expected there to be any resistance to the Grand Clinton Restoration plot to get her made President in 2008 and that Democrat voters would actively seek to punish her for the vote for war, once viable alternatives to Hillary started popping up. To an extent that even fucking Michael fucking Moore explicitly stated publicly that Hillary most be punished for her craven cowardly vote by being denied ever being allowed to be made President; something he later cowardly backpeddled on in 2016.

The thing about Reagan to remember is that he was the GOP version of Obama where he was basically untouchable and that the media actively protected and pushed him as the greatest modern President ever. To such a degree, that you had shit like SNL being banned from making fun of Reagan for the bulk of his term (and only being allowed to do so when Lorne Michaels returned and had creative control to buck the network, and even then only able to do it in Reagan's last year in office.

This has LONG been a huge thing for the left, who keep pushing the meme that Reagan was actually SUPER FUCKING HATED AND DESPISED by Americans but the cowardly corporate media buried every negative Reagan story they could or anti-Reagan work produced in popular culture to create the falls image/history that Reagan was the second coming. 1: The draft bill is fairly narrowly tailored, and a new bill is what I mentioned.
2: You'd be surprised, the last invocation of the draft was Vietnam, since there has been SCOTUS precedent added that raises into question whether the draft, let alone full conscription, would be constitutional.

Should note that the draft was abolished explicitly because of the backlash to Vietnam and BOTH parties realizing that the best way to push forever war is to make military service 100% voluntary so that the middle class can be mindless cheerleaders for forever wars since their kids would never have to be drafted to fight them; only the poor and stupid would volunteer for military/fight in wars.

Bringing back the draft would create a pandora's box NO ONE wants because then you'd have a revitalized anti-war movement and a TON of pissed off parents who would see their kids forced to die in combat. Let alone the current issue with women being exempt from the draft creating a potential gender civil war as men refuse to be drafted while women get a pass, yet demanding men be stripped of basic human rights in the name of feminism.
