What made people shift so much from shit posting, to every person with a shallow understanding of politics feeling the need to share their thoughts all the time.

I’m not saying politics was never discussed on the internet before, but nowadays people take themselves and their opinions too seriously.

Entitlement and shallowness has become championed for the sake of having an identity, or anyone having integrity. The Internet just boosted it in a way where it’s the safe way to be trendy without doing much of anything.

What made people shift so much from shit posting, to every person with a shallow understanding of politics feeling the need to share their thoughts all the time.

Unironically it's the ease of access. When the internet required you install new software and figure out how URLs work to navigate, it was possible to force some kind of understanding of the culture, eternal septembers aside. Internet stuff was a niche subculture, and the discourse reflected it. When the internet is reduced to a social media button on your phone, every basic retard and midwit can get online and every corporation is desperate to sanitize it for maximum revenue.
I blame Facebook and the iPhone chiefly, but there's blame to be assigned all the way down the chain.

Fandom has always been full of jackasses though. I remember the days in the Xena fandom when someone (called "Ephiny" I think) in a chat room was horribly rude to actress Lucy Lawless who had joined the chat under the name "Hercules." Ms Lawless then mentioned the bad time she had in an interview and the rude person was embarrassed about it. Rude gatekeeping weirdo then showed up at a convention or something and outed herself to Ms Lawless as the rude one, then sort of hovered and creeped.

It's a bullshit, bait-and-switch argument, because they're trying to distract from the real reason that feminists are disgusted by these coomers. Radfems want to protect female-only spaces, while conservatives are just classic homophobes. But they're very different groups. They're trying to group them together on purpose.

Or that women are scared of being assaulted by an unwanted penis in their most vulnerable female-only spaces. It was later discovered that this effective spamming was coordinated by Reddit mods in a Discord specifically for Reddit mods.



A Reddit admin stepped in and deleted the mods' hysteria, spurring the mods to call the admins "dictators" and "tyrants" because they won't let them censor and ban people who disagree with them on their spam messages.



This inspired the mods to begin writing to congress and workshop starting a union for Reddit jannies.



They soon realized they were getting their Discord chats leaked, as shared by Cateloaf, spurring its own meltdown.



This inspired the people over at rdrama to archive their entire Discord server. Despite being fully aware they are getting their chats leaked, they decide to openly discuss how they're going to try to remove any Reddit that they don't agree with, including conservative Reddits, as shared by The Stinky Skink.
