Someone clipped a piece out of the Washington Post which more or less confirms what I think most in this thread already believed, the US has been in almost constant contact with the Taliban throughout the pullout period and has been negotiating nonstop.

If there is one positive that comes out of this, if there is one thing other nations get from this; it should be that trying to emulate or follow in the footsteps of the United States of America is something they should not do.

Our government is ran by idiots and the last thing you want to emulate or try and follow is a bunch of idiots. America is not the same it was 80 years ago, let alone 50. You could argue it hasn't been the same ever since two parties were put into place.

Hopefully this serves as a way for other nations to try and be more independent of the USA, which ironically enough is something I think the Founding Fathers would have wanted and preferred, compared to how things are now.

The official Speaker of the Taliban had an interview with the biggest Austrian Newspaper.
He said that the Taliban will take criminal Afghan asylum seekers who get deported in again.
This is pretty huge, because all of Europe had to stop deportations to Afghanistan.
Now, all asylum seeking immigrant groups have a pretty big rate of criminality, but the Afghans are the worst by far. A few weeks back, a group of Afghan "minors", who were inspected and found to be adults, drugged, raped and killed a 13 year old Austrian girl. It was big enough to rule the press cycle for a while, here and in Germany.

This move of the Taliban will bring the European politicians in a very difficult situation. The population wants Afghans deported. Most conservative governments repeatedly promise that criminal Afghans will be deported. They had an excuse now to stop it, because of the reconquest of Afghanistan through the Taliban, and that the airports weren't even open.

They will have to either face the wrath of the citizens who want the promised deportations, or to work with the Taliban, giving their government legitimacy.
There is no way the Taliban can lose face over this, if anything, a respectable part of Austria, Germany and co will warm up to them.
A very smart move, but the Taliban is kicking the west's ass in Propaganda warfare since the beginning of their offensive.

Trump telling them that they need to pony up their fair share of the effort and costs was a soft start for them. Now, Biden actually dodging calls and stranding their people has smacked them in the face so hopefully they're building their own capacity even faster now.

Not sure if this was posted, but what's your thoughts on this?

Tl;dw Lt. Col. that had his rank pulled makes a video that disparaged the leadership of his chain of command, angry because he loves the Marine Corps and claims to be willing to give up his commission, VA benefits, and essentially all of his disability because of the lack of accountability from his chain of command and the Biden Administration.
