Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? I really only try to be annoyed, not angry, because you can still be pissed while thinking rationally, but sometimes, when you reach a point, the annoyance explodes into frothing, uncontrollable tardrage.

I am just about there from the abject failure I've seen today, the dismissal from Biden's ballsuckers, the lack of thought and foresight into what this means, and the idea of Biden rambling tomorrow about him "ending the longest war, give me credit."

What makes me upset about this is that, for most people supporting this, it comes down to... new food. A majority of these don't even mention anything else (and yeah, I'm counting "new neighbors" and "for starters" as mentioning other things, I am scraping this damn barrel), and that makes me sad. It's not even about offering them a chance at a new life, or making new friends with very different cultural experiences, or seeing what wonders their children will make with the freedom and opportunity America provides. Imagine, their child coming home with a new best friend or boy/girlfriend who was born in Kabul or Kandahar or somewhere else exciting! Imagine, a BBQ with neighbors who see clear blue sunny skies very differently than you do! Because I don't think they are! I think that, for them, it's about shoving something slightly different in their maw and being able to more readily consume something different, having a new underclass for them to kindly exploit as much as possible in their endless pursuit of consumption.

At least the people wondering about what it could mean are considering all the possibilities. Even assuming everyone involved has good intentions and enough resources to make it feasible, it's still not easy to start a new life somewhere, especially not when you're fleeing a war from several thousands of miles away, and it's not always easy for a community to adapt. And as well-intended as these commentators might be, they're reducing these survivors to a new variety of funko-pop or fast food sensation. To cooks and chefs and waitstaff willing to entertain safely from behind a kitchen or with the subtle threat of losing the business of their new, "enlightened" clientele looming over their every interaction and making them a safe other to entertain their new neighbors.

Fuck me. I'm sorry, that got a bit out of hand. But it pisses me off to see people reduced to means to an end like this. Everybody deserves better than that.

Biden's a lame duck until whatever faction war that is raging in the White House gets resolved. And even then he's probably still screwed.

Vaccine mandates will backfire because people will get burnt out on keeping up with them. "Oh you don't have your COVID-Sigma-Sigma update? Guess you can't go to your kids graduation." (The problem being that bureaucracy isn't going to care that you deferred your shot so some vulnerable person could get it.)

States are going to attempt to keep the eviction moratorium going. Illinois extended it to September 16th but I doubt they can go any further.

Biden's economic recovery is on borrowed time. For some reason we lack the resin to make plastics. There is a shortage of PVC, Fiberglass and other assorted plastics. Businesses are going to have to idle production because of these shortages. Which means a bunch of people not working. And we still have stuff on back order from February while at the same time we won't get some stuff til December.

Afghanistan is such a clusterfuck that it revealed the whole military is dysfunctional.

Prediction wise? Shit seems to be hitting the fan. Whole system is shuddering to a halt. Bunker down because shit is probably going to get worse.

Well the problem shown by the 2020 election is that local and state government matters very much.

Cuckservatives and shitlibs and the corporate press have destroyed local civic awareness successfully. I'm sure over 50 percent of the people in my city don't know who the fucking mayor is.
