I figure there's still some competition against streaming in how DVDs are remarkably still a thing with their own aisles in stores, and I wouldn't be surprised if all but the very cheapest players you can buy nowadays can play Blu-rays too. I still see people using Redboxes occasionally, too, so I guess there are enough people out there still using discs for that to be a thing.

No argument here on the 4K UHD side, though. And same goes with pirated movies, those artifacts in dark scenes are gonna start sticking out like sore thumbs if/when OLED screens become more common.

Sadly that is where we're heading. I have not bought a physical DVD disc simply either the film I want is not present or the costs of such have doubled following the change of media. Videogame physical DVDs I buy only on games I intend to play for years on end, that and the risk of your drive/console shitting itself and losing all data, including your pirated progress is infuriating to no end.

Also, it feels good owning something that is pretty good for your taste.

By the way, I don't give a rats ass about virtual copies. Considering such can be churned out so easily, quality is all over the place. Subtitles? 480p or 1080p? Extra content? Forget it. Not to mention the service that is giving you the virtual copy can cut off the service anytime. This is no longer an age that you can own stuff, rather it is stuff that you have the license to use until they can nullify you from using them.
