I would assume even if they were to put a sarcophagus over the theoretical plant it would still cause massive issues for them in terms of them being able to project force. You probably wouldn't be able to fly any jets over it, no airstrips on it, can't sail near it, other countries can't as well limiting trade and exports. Mankind is great at forgetting our failures. After two generations we forget how horrible things were just a few decades previous. People will try again because they will think it is different this time.

Expanding on this a little because it amuses me. Democrats spent so long in power they decided they wanted to stay in power. They spent huge amounts of resources ensuring the opposition was their lapdogs, creating a uniparty apparatus. Then Trump came along and shat all over it. So they united the Uniparty and the elements that have slowly grown to hate them and cheated Trump out of office.


The problem is that doing so revealed just how many underlying conditions they had.

Faced with real opposition they have discovered that:
1: They have NO idea how to battle a culture war anymore. Their ground soldiers all scream and hashtag but don't -do- anything, and their commanders were either destroyed to protect the Uniparty from outside influence or lost the spark.
2: Their attempts to make Controlled Opposition lead to actual opposition as soon as their grip loosened. The Progressives aren't a cute faction controlled by Bernie anymore, they have actual grassroots support. And Republicans increasingly break from the RINOs to support functioning candidates.
3: All their focus on maintaining control left them with no way to handle actual attacks. They are forced to use blunt mechanisms like censorship which have historically only ever backfired in the long-term.


In short, they became such good puppet masters they forgot how to do -anything else-.

It gets funnier.

When Trump was going through the RNC primaries, it was the DNC - and specifically, Clinton's backers - who repeatedly did everything they could to float Trump. The reason they did was that they felt he'd be the easiest to beat in the generals. They were the architects of their own fuck-up.

A pattern that has borne out repeatedly since.
