reddit General

I visit this one for the community.

Kiwi Farms has the vibe of the boards I posted on as a teenager, except everybody's in their 30s or 40s now.
This. I can make a crack about reddit jannies being worse than FidoNet sysops and know there's a reasonable chance that people will know what I'm talking about and agree (also, fuck Tom Jennings, the original insane faggot on the internet).

And right after their phony lipservice to free speech. (Which covid cultists will continue to hold against the site, despite the fact they got their demands met. i.e. "It took the admins MONTHS to crack down on dangerous misinformation! Think of how many grannies probably died because of reddit!")

If competent leadership and general merit had anything to do with keeping a profitable platform afloat, reddit would be in trouble.

gawd at this point I can't penetrate the ridiculous layers of irony that exist on reddit. I kind of get why r/drama is fucked beyond recognition, but is rdrama.net meant to be the main place everyone migrated to? Is the trans ideology in both places genuinely sincere or just taking the piss? Poe's law is a pretzel, I don't even wanna touch those places anymore. At least rdrama.net seems to be posting the real shit some of the time.

I don't think I can keep up with the energy those places have anymore.
Its real they are trannies too

Looks like these are the next targets.

To be fair Reddit is mostly used by trannies, so they're catering to their userbase.
Y’all forget that power hungry jannies and leftist faggots are Reddit’s primary user base, why would they go against their primary customer? No new normal users aren’t the guys buying reddit gold.

The mods put up the tranny flag to scare off MDEfugees and other annoying right-wingers. Nothing they do is sincere.

What really sucks is many of the forums and many of the people I was friends with in the old days have become exactly the Reddit professional offense-takers that we'd have made a laughingstock of online 15 or 20 years ago.

I don't know what the fuck happened to them or why it didn't happen to me. It's mystifying.

@Dagobert If you sign up to any website using Google+, Twitter, Facebook, so on, all associated accounts are cross-referenced. Furthermore it cross-referenced to your private contacts list, as in Reddit could see Gmail contacts if you used Google login, and can even see your phone contacts if that Gmail account is the same one connected to your phone. This sounds like what may have happened.

Everyone should always do a regular email sign-up and avoid doing the lazy one-click sign-up, because it will turn a small ban on a single site, to a ban on all sites associated with the email.
I don't think this is as widely known as it should be, but you don't even need an email address to sign up for reddit. Just leave the email address field blank during the account creation process. Observe:

If anyone would like to use the account I created for this demonstration, the password is "nonewnormal."

@Geese Howard That's extremely useful to know, but also very terrifying. This means that anyone with a lot of money can create thousands of bots with ease. :cryblood:

I don't have the album at hand immediately, but there's actually a lot of hard evidence of Reddit being filled with bots due to incidents where hundreds of bots accidentally spammed the wrong posts. Reddit is filled with them.

Dramafags are the worst, so terminally irony-poisoned that they're basically hollow shells of humans that know nothing but a few derisive meme phrases. Truly insufferable, I don't know how anyone can enjoy that "community"

The "brigading" excuse is just a rule violation that reddit looks the other way on until they deem a subreddit 'bad' and then pull it out when they want to swing the ban hammer. Anyone that has used any of the 'edgier' communities like /r/drama know this all too well. There's nothing moderators of a subreddit can do to stop the behavior, yet reddit admins expect them to somehow control users.

As a zoomer I will spell it out for you: It's intentional and it's basically a way of agreeing to disagree. Those who hate trannies will love it and those who don't will think its ironic. It helps prevent spergery over dumb irrelevant shit like which side of the culture war you're on.

Some of you didn't spend your childhood making online friends you eventually realized were all old unemployed autistic furry trannies and it shows.

why the fuck do they always suppose every single anti-vaxxer uses Facebook? I've begun noticing this lately and it's weirding me out
Facebook is great for finding the really wacko stuff, like miracle mineral solution, Yakub, and hyperborea. Boomers used to post it to their GeoCities pages but now they just use FB

What's truly terrible about leddit is that it's not a containment site, like tumblr was. Tumblrites would stay seething in terra cave, redditors spread their website's fetid "culture" across the entire internet. Every comment section on yt or other websites is full of reddit's shitty "humor".
The entire clearnet is a containment area at this point. If your site isn't invite-only or on some non-Internet network you'll be pozzed into compliance eventually
