reddit General

I'm not even sure why anyone right-of-Mao even posts on Reddit when you have such a high probability of being banned. Imagine not being able to call someone a retard.

Edit: Thanks for the only validation I get in life gold kind stranger!

I'll never understand how they managed to convince them to pay money for these

Reddit mods trying to ban r/NoNewNormal be like.

So... I'm still really unclear what the reasoning behind this protest and banning NoNewNormal was.

Wasn't it just idiots sharing bad information and memes with one another? Is stupidity against Reddit policies now?

People seem to also be defining it as "anti-vaccination" when I was under the impression it was mainly anti-lockdowns. A lot of people on reddit seem to think they were "deliberately misinforming" people - which is where I get lost. How is anyone able to determine that users on that sub were knowingly lying to one another?

Was there evidence behind any of this nonsense?

If there was, we'll never see it. The anti-brigading rule is bullshit.

It makes me legitimately sad to read the comments on Plebbit. First I laugh at their retardation and smug faggotry, but when the laughter ends I feel pure disappointment about the direction everything is going. HR women and seething bitchbois run the internet and soon they’ll completely run the government as well. My vision of the future isn’t a boot on our necks, it’s an ambiguously ethnic obese Afro-Latina saying “that’s not funny” for eternity.

Perhaps this is :optimistic: of me, but I get the impression the jannies may have won a pyrric victory here.

The reddit security announcement focuses on /r/nonewnormal engaging in brigading based on data analysis, and also observes the policies on health misinformation (in the form of e.g. a verifiably fake cancer cure) and health disinformation (in the form of e.g. faked WHO/CDC advice). What it noticeably does not do is say "we banned /r/nonewnormal because they're covid deniers", and if anything implies that remaining "covid denial" subreddits are not necessarily for the chopping block (especially in light of what spez said last week). Sure enough, the comments section is filled with jannies seething about this.

One bright spark also pointed out that the data crunching was likely going on behind the scenes anyway, due to the US Senate demanding access to records around the Jan 6th riots. So my schizo theory is they've thrown in a token "win" for the jannies and diffused negative media attention by removing /r/NoNewNormal for brigading, but are pissed at the jannies for pushing a bit too far and are gearing up to start stripping the powermods of their power.

I know it's more likely that they just deleted /r/NoNewNormal but let me dream

Well boys, the milk has soured. Put away your bottles and prepare for the coming happening where moderators get their unwarranted egos even more inflated.
To be clear, COVID misinformation IS a problem and NNN should've been banned for breaking Reddit's rules on brigading alone. Banning other antivax content is something I can understand from a mainstream platform.
However, validating powermods this way is disgusting. I hope all degenerates reddit admins get their civil war asap.

/r/NoNewNormal apparently would comment on extremely pro-vax threads in other subreddits en masse, which is called "brigading", and even though they themselves where subject to a massive downvote brigade from places like /r/AgainstHateSubreddits and /r/coronavirus during this Jannie revolt, reddit is claiming NNN was some kind of huge brigading subreddit and that justifies their removal.
So basically they came up with a bullshit hypocritical reason to ban them because all of their unpaid labor was screeching about the subreddit still existing.

You need to go back. Banning non-mainstream science is retarded. Stop treating the internet like it's club penguin chat.
