I had an idea about DisasterStreamerPhils lemon PC. I recently bought a crap server (it's not, it's a workstation) off eBay for £50. A 2011 Xeon 1225 (3.1GHz, single thread quad core) with 4GB DDR3, a 160 mechanical hard drive and a FirePRO V4800! It came wiped with Windows 10 but... no. Was fast enough but I had a budget to spend. Put in a 120 SSD, 16Gb DDR3 (max it supports) and Windows 7. Actually a decent speed now. Total cost was under
£100 (
$140).
Installed OBS. Set the scene up with a webcam, stream elements overlay and a 1080 display capturing the desktop. Streamed it at 1080 to my YouTube channel while also recording locally at 1080. Just like DSP does. His begging overlay shouldn't take many resources. That electrical effect may add a little, but not much. He's using an external capture device which does all the processing, all his machine does is rebroadcast the feed. It's a bit more technical in that the image is moving and has a broader colour range. I only have internal capture cards so this is as good as I could do. Streaming and recording at the same time...
Rates at 8k,. More than enough for 1080.
60 FPS. CPU sat under
80% most of the time, occasionally spiking to
90%.
Tried again setting
30 FPS. CPU sat around
45% most of the time, occasionally spiking to
60%.
Seems all his problems can be fixed by using 30 FPS instead of 60. That was CPU streaming, the GPU was never used. Like you could do shit with a FirePRO! If people cared about quality they'd watch others streaming in 2k/4k. It's not like his garbage content can be used in future game documentaries because of the overlays and some brainless fugly guy pinned to the side.
Also noting that a £100 10 year old "junk" workstation from eBay seems to be as good as the lemon. At least for streaming. Not blaming the guys who built it, blaming the guy for running it in to the ground. For £30 ($40) I could replace the CPU with a hyperthreaded one and a slightly faster core. Essentially doubling the speed. Or there are old workstations on eBay at £200 ($280) with dual Xeon 5570's (2x hyperthreaded quad cores at 3Ghz). That would be around 4x the CPU power.

It's been bothering me for a while. Knew the problem wasn't with the PC. It's the idiot using it. No, I also didn't waste all that money to prove a point. If you consider that a lot of money? The machine is for a video series... that no one's going to watch.
I can sleep slightly better now.
