Mike David / Red Bar Radio / Jules Felker David - "Where we at with Red Bar?"

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Here's a link to The Gavin McGinnes Show's that Mike guest hosted that @Vetti mentioned.
Browsing through the r/redbar subreddit I was able to find some other fun things, like a clip from the London documentary and Mike talking about the "Mask Money" controversy from a years ago.
A redditor allegedly has a full copy of the documentary, but I don't have a reddit account and can't ask the person in question for a link to the full thing.

Sweet, finally some new Redbar content!

I don't have too much to contribute, but as some people mentioned Mike's music, I should mention he put out a rap EP called The Die 2013 EP which is where the Spill All The Grays song comes from. NiggerzBop was an impromptu Karaoke cover. I'll attach an archive of The Die 2013 EP here, as it's largely vanished from the internet.

EDIT: Added some other loose tracks Mike did that I don't think were from The Die 2013 EP, as well as an mp3 of NiggerzBop for good measure.

Good OP, but would this be better in Multimedia?
There are two main reasons why I'd prefer it not be moved to multimedia.

1. The OP doesn't cover all of Mike's cowish behavior

Due to Red Bar's age and many phases, the OP was written as more of a brief history lesson than anything else, meant to establish the basics instead of being a gallery of Mike's many blunders. Some things it didn't include were:
  • Mike making his dog shit in his bathtub
  • The details of Mike and Jules' relationship (things like him calling her his 'child bride')
  • Mike's hostility towards 'internet Nazis' and people calling him Jewish
  • Mike's feuds with small podcasters like Patrick Melton, PodAwful, Mersh, and others.
  • Mike's obsession with Anthony Cumia to the point of naming his paywall the 'Anthony Cumia's Scars Club'
  • Mike's battle with retarded nigger, SaiyanZ Entertainment, where Mike sent his fans to flag SaiyanZ's stream snipe, only to have his own show taken down while live for violating YouTube's bullying policy
  • His mysterious illness that has caused him to take off the entire summer while still promoting the Scars Club
Things like this will eventually get brought up and discussed if the thread is ever approved, and a more accurate view of Mike's lolcow status can be established with time.

2. The multimedia stigma

I think there's a thing with multimedia threads where, since MM 'isn't a lolcow board', harsher criticism of the thread subject is usually avoided and "alogging" is policed more than on other subforums to the point where it could choke a thread's potential. Nick Rekieta is a good example of what I'm talking about.

Be it in Internet Famous, on the Gunt board, or anywhere else, discussion of Nick Rekieta seems to always eventually turn to people calling him a cuck, people calling him a grifter, people calling him a shitty lawyer, making fun of him dressing like a femboy, etc. This happens pretty much everywhere on the site except in his multimedia thread, and understandably so, since it's essentially a section for fan threads. PPP's thread is mostly positive, but it's still in Internet Famous since he's done some undeniably lulzy shit, and I think that Red Bar is in a similar position.

I can't quote your post for some reason, but his feud with Mersh was pretty funny because they're both thin-skinned drunks who can't take what they dish out. From what I remember:

- They've both claimed to have 'created' the other person by recommending their own fan-base check out the other show. The word betrayal is frequently used when they're fighting.
- Mike watched one of Mersh's nightwave streams and gave a sarcastic superchat, Mersh proceeds to thank Mike for the 'jew gold'. Mike has a meltdown over this, like he does whenever his ethnicity is brought up.
- They both fill the same streaming niche and cover similar topics, so there are frequent accusations of stealing from each other.
- Both have a small but loyal following of spergs who are happy to go to war and send hatemail to stoke the flames.
- They would both get pretty drunk on their streams, so things would escalate to threats of violence pretty quickly. I can't find the stream, but I remember one stream where Mike called Mersh a nigger and threatened to cut Mersh's face up.

A couple other notes on the Mersh/Mike feud:

-Mersh started out a fan of Redbar, and was active in the BBG up until a bit before their feud kicked off.
-Mike, like Mersh has a long and checkered history with Jesse PS from PodAwful. Mike had accused Jesse of ripping him off (imagine that) back in 2011 or 12, but that issue largely blew over. Jesse and Mike remained on good terms for years, to the point that Jesse had written a somewhat heartfelt post on reddit defending Mike in (I believe) 2019. At some point in 2020 or 21 their relationship soured for reasons unknown to me, and if I recall correctly, were not entirely clear to Mike at the time either. Or at least he claimed he wasn't sure what happened.
-Early in the Mersh/Mike feud, before it really ramped up, Mike said on stream that he didn't see Mersh as being that bad and that he was more worried about Jesse. Specifically, he was worried that he had to treat Jesse with "kid gloves" and was concerned that Jesse might email vimeo to get the Redbar account banned, a worry he did not have about Mersh. I believe Mike and Jesse were still on good terms at this time and Mike and Mersh were still mostly cordial and clearly held a grudging respect for each other.
-Mike was not aware that Mersh was a former stand up until Doug Stanhope and Shane Gillis were interviewed on ROTC, and I have a personal theory that this revelation contributed to a lot of Mike's newfound hostility towards Mersh.
-Mike's coverage of Mersh culminated in a song contest dubbed "Amershican Idol". After this Mike stopped featuring Mersh as a regular fool, though he would continue to take occaisional cracks.
-Despite Mike's "temporary" retirement, Mersh continues to hold resentment for Mike, and frequently spergs out at his chat for asking about Redbar or referencing Redbar memes. The Nightwave intro continues to contain a reference to 444, a Redbar meme.

I don't have a Scars Club subcription, so this is all going off of memory and I can't really get citations right now. If I think of anything else noteworthy I'll add it, and if I got anything wrong here I'll try to correct it.

I think the biggest problem with a redbar thread is that a good chunk of what would be lolcow-dom got wiped because of the various lawsuits, pretty much everything pre-2009 got wiped, and a good chunk of the fallout from the comedy club years. and all the episodes that got pulled because of lawsuits. thats a big reason for the shift to focusing on fools post-2016. hell of a lot easier to mock some broke comedian that doesn't know how to do anything than some business owner or prank call a corporation. this thread would be like doing a chris-chan thread if everything pre-2012 was lost to the sands of time.

it also doesn't help that he decided to pull a Metokur, chances are this thread will just be people discussing ancient history, a special anniversary is coming up next week though. 9/11. it holds a special place in mikes heart.

Mike's all but admitted he can't take criticism, and the only reason he isn't sperging out like the other lolcows is that he successfully hugboxed out most people with the paywall.

This is amazing, I was just wondering about RBR and Mike. I was a big RBR/NLO fan back in the day and actually spent a New Year's Eve (maybe 2008?) on a Skype call with Mike D and one of the regular callers to Free Talk Live (Triddle, IIRC). I still have a signed RBR hat that I found when I moved a few years ago.

The scummy bullshit Mike was up to before 2010 was also amazing.

During a Podcast Expo and his PayPal was frozen while he was there so he had a bucket accepting money for "shout outs" on his next show (which he never gave). He would buy rounds at the bar and put in some random guy's room and name (and actually got away with it).
He begged his listeners for money so he could buy a ring to propose to his then-girlfriend back in like 2009 or so, which he never did.
He would always beg for donations and say if he got enough he'd tell "the story of the crazy school I went to in Maine" and just never told the stories even after raising thousands in donations.
He had a simple assault charge brought against him by the lesbian couple that lived above his apartment at one point because he kept harassing them.
He lost all his sponsorships and was begging his brother for money, the brother moved in and IIRC they got into a lot of fights.
Because of his association with Full Sail he was able to get an internship for credit with a local school set up. He went through a LOT of interns before the school ended their relationship with him.
He was one of the first podcasts to do an AdamEve partnership where he was supposed to talk about their products and do ad reads but he just took the money and never did that.
Those Chicago comedians in the OP all stopped going on RBR and associating with Mike because he would say he would pay them to come on the show and then just never did.

I've forgotten so much over the past decade, so I'm probably leaving out a lot of stuff.

The best place to find episodes talking about Mike's old retard shit would probably be Nobody Likes Onions's archives (which you unfortunately do have to pay for) because after their falling out Patrick talked a lot of shit about Mike for a while.

red bar radio... i haven't heard that name in years... i was a huge fan in high school (of course!) but stopped watching when he got married because i predicted his wife would become a regular guest, and at the time firmly believed women could not be funny (except for myself because i was a pick-me girl!)
mike was also really into making jokes about murdering women at the time, so it struck me as really weird and hypocritical for him to get married in the first place? no one should have to suffer being married to mike david
if anyone has any of his old highlight videos archived, please let me know because i was absolutely devastated when i found out he had deleted Obongo Eats A Cupcake, a video wherein he wears a barack obama mask, peels the wrapping from a chocolate cupcake while describing it as "like peeling away the period encrusted panties of your daughter" and then slaps it into his face like a cream pie. frankly it was probably the peak of mike's comedy

Mike can be funny at times, but his shows are just too damn long. I don't care how entertaining you are, I do not want to listen to anyone talk for eight hours straight. Anyway, here's a decent video if you want a brief overview of Redbar lore. Just to warn you beforehand, this guy's mic quality sucks and he's a bit of a fag but it's still good information.

There seems to be some cosmic fuckery afoot. Just a few hours ago 2 million+ sub parnormal YouTuber Nexpo uploaded a video on The Elan School, which Redbar listeners will know as the boarding school Mike attended. I know it's a tad bit off topic, but for those who want the deep lore this might be worth a watch. And the timing of the upload, just as this thread is starting up, is a hell of a coincidence.

its a hugely well known school. every true crime podcast has talked about the school. so if you have ever been friends with a woman or are a woman you know about it. a kennedy almost got away with murder because he said that school fucked his head up.

it was essentially set up like what you heard communist schools were like, everyone snitching on each other if they broke the rules, group beatings, torture as lessons. and the teachers were other students.

Yeah, Michael Skakel. I read the Mark Fuhrman book on it. Controversial case, his conviction was eventually vacated and his case was dropped last year. Skakel admitted he jacked off near where the victim was found, but he totally didn't kill her trust me bro™.

I always wondered how fucked up Mike could have been as a kid that he got sent there. Then again, Mike's from the generation of kids whose parents doped them up on drugs just for the hell of it, so I guess it could have been any old bullshit.

I mean i know taking him at his word is like trusting Encyclopedia dramatica mods but on his last free episodes he did mention smoking since he was 15, and that he was kicked out of the school and lived on the streets of boston until his friends from school could buy him a ticket back home.

If his parents were already so worn out dealing with him at 15 that they just let him smoke and he somehow was such a shithead he got kicked out of that school, then he had to have been a complete psycho. He also has tons of stories he tells gleefully of fucking people over, hell one of my favorite clips is of him ordering a thousand dollars worth of food then forcing them to cancel the order.

you also have to give him your dox essentially to get into his little chat rooms and he openly talks about pulling some cumia level pettyness on people that disagree with him. canceling people's subscriptions and everything. And that doesn't get us started on him essentially stealing $50+ dollars from every subscriber now.

I just want to know from @coofcops how the fuck did you hear about this guy back in 2007? most people heard of him from him going after cumia's or rogan's boys. but he was virtually a nobody back then, how the hell did he even livestream back then? the content must have been fucking wild though. if he was doing nigger songs in 2012, he must have been going full Daily Shoah style humor then

Nobody Likes Onions. I don't know how Patrick and Mike met each other, but they were buddies for a while and Mike would go on NLO from time to time as a guest host. There was Ustream (bought and shut down by IBM) and Livestream (which still exists). Justin.tv was brand new and was just Justin livestreaming his life at that point. They mostly streamed audio only, since livestreaming like we know it today was in its infancy.

I'm that weird retarded guy who knows about shit like RBR but nothing about Rogan or Cumia.

He was trying really hard to get on Westwood One, which is why he was cozying up with the Free Talk Live libertarians (and one confirmed pedophile) who already had their podcast on the radio. Patrick had a few episodes played on Sirius or XM (before the merger) and Mike had a few highlights played on terresterial radio, I'm not sure about satellite. He was doing a basic Stern ripoff with a woman to be the hole and an engineer and intern and shit. Lots of pop culture conversations and gossip and shitting on people. That ended after a little while and he started getting those Chicago comedians in as guest/co-hosts. He never really was too outrageous on the show back then, I'd say 80% of what he said and did could have been on the radio at the time, and the only time he was ever racial that I can think of was when he would talk about how Mexicans need to all be deported, and that stemmed from him living in the Mexican part of Chicago and a guy who didn't speak English or have insurance backing his work van into Mike's car. When he went on NLO he said cunt a lot but I don't remember him saying nigger enough for it to be notable. He did refer to Jews having shady business practices from time to time, but he was never what I would consider "a racist podcast." Just that casual racism that exists with people who grew up in the 90s. You know, like calling it "Jew York" or casually saying "beaner." Nothing much spicier than that.

Okay I have a question that I didn't see answered. If his now wife was supposedly underaged when she took those nudes. Didn't he out himself as a grooming pedophile distributing CP because he was the one that shared them?

I mean its Chicago, but I have to imagine that if it was indeed true that she was underage his ass would have had at least some charges brought up.

Looks interesting regardless im going to read up on this later.
