Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

Cant quote, but elevated d dimer doesn’t always mean clot. It can be several things causing a positive d dimer test in the absence of a negative ct.

First, the false positive rate is 40 to 60 percent. After that, non clot causes: syncope, infection, age (elderly people specifically), and other things.

Dom is a dumb dumb munchie attention whore.

She is not posted their, yet. Strange again because when do enter hospice it is usually pretty quick from death to funeral home because most require pre planning. However in COVID times that may be slower.

What I don't like is that wording she uses. I am very pro death with diginity but, Tess multiple times was actively suicidal. This sounds like one big shot of morphinene, lights out.

Also, in June she attempted to make her lisence active. I am not completely convinced this is not just all an act

This "misgendering" bullshit is ridiculous. Munchausen's-by-internet is incredibly female-slanted. If you are spending a bunch of time online posting sad sick faces, 99.9% of the time you were born XX. The only exception that comes to mind is that Newfie guy with the penis issue, and he seemed more crazy than classic Munchie. And they claim to be non-binary for the same reasons they claim to be autistic and they claim to be sick, and the same reason they aspire to be Jewish. It's an easy way to grab victim cred.

Same, and to be honest an obituary wouldn’t convince me either. People like Tess are the reason we still need to host “viewings.”

Tufted Titmod of the MS discord was far, far too eager and over-apologetic/dramatic about her past “missteps,” I’m just going to assume she’s another munchie fantasizing about capturing a Regina George crown.

It seems like munchies love to get together and form these communities. I wonder what the motive is? Lying so much themselves they trash others for catharsis? “Like” recognizing “like” and wanting to call someone out in jealousy? Isn’t munching online dramatically for attention enough for them? Do they need to escalate like a junkie for a fix after too much time munching? I noticed a lot of them join forces as “friends” on their socials, the plebbit “subjects” got together and formed a cheer team. The Florida dog/Disney group flock together and then tear each other apart in their IG stories. Do they all just secretly hate each other and want to trash talk and destroy each other and this is their favorite way to do it?

Even with pre-planning, there's a lot that goes into funeral preparations. If you want a viewing/burial on a weekend, you'll likely wait over a week. But then it also costs more for a burial on weekends. If you have a lot of out-of-state relatives, most families pick a date that the most people can accommodate (even if it's far away). And if they want any kind of religious service (or wake at a bar for something closer to Tess's wishes), you have to coordinate open dates for those places, too.

Obituaries vary in cost based on the day they're published and are usually passed around by family members and funeral director before the final draft is submitted to a newspaper. I've heard recommendations to publish about 3 days before the funeral, but the advice online varies.

And if Tess is estranged from her family, there might not be any volunteers to write it.

The only exception that comes to mind is that Newfie guy with the penis issue, and he seemed more crazy than classic Munchie.
Numberwang is very similar to all the other munchies. He's incredibly OTT, claims to have the trifecta (including hyperPOTS!) without actual diagnoses (also seeking vEDS and Marfan's diagnoses without the matching traits), likes to play doctor in the support groups, doctor shops for the coveted treatments, and is currently seeking out AAI and tethered cord surgery from an "EDS literate" surgeon (mentions several of the top hackers, calling it "major neurosurgery") and is trying to get tested for chronic lyme. He also participated on the snot/post-nasal drip = CSF leak post on the EDS sub. Oh, and he's casually e-begging for $160,000.

He seems quite neurotic in all aspects of his life, though. He's been posting repeatedly (for months) about possibly being on "watch" lists because his friend viewed a video on his computer when they were teens.

He kind of reminds me of Allison. He's so confident in his inaccuracies and misdiagnosis, thinks he's the smartest guy in the world, over shares in comments, and seems to have the spastic energy to climb doorframes.

Walker funeral home? How ableist!

No obits on a cursory search, and the latest obit on the walker site is from September 4th. So if there's an obit to be had, it may take a bit to pop up.

It is literally only internet rumors thus far. If she's faking her own death, it would only be a matter of time before she posted a slobbery video somewhere. She seems to think the world wants to see her hyperactive salivary glands at work.

The thing that is setting off my personal "faker" alarm bells is the friend posting on patreon so quickly after her alleged death.

As soon as I see "functional" as part of someone's title I'm immediately sceptical.
As much as I love the concept of functional medicine it has just become another way for shady docs to grift, radicals to push their views on pts and practitioners, and integrate woo shit into their practice so they can make money on non-traditional treatments.

Like other posters have said, false positives are possible on the d-dimer, and it doesn't definitively determine anything on its own anyway. And I almost don't believe she had abnormal MRIs after the normal ones. I'm sure she just got told what she wanted to hear, or she just lied for the interviews. She clearly has no problem embellishing her stories and manipulating the truth.

With her history, I'm wondering what her ultimate goal is from all this. Attention? Money? There's something about her that seems different than the other failure to launch sickstagram types.

Eta: Her and Kylie are the most interesting additions to me. I wish there was more Kylie drama.

As it turns out, a functional neurologist is a chiropractor of the most quacky type.

Here's one of the munchie-god hackjob surgeons that I completely sperged out researching. My original plan was to compile information about all of the surgeons that the munchies flock to in one post, but it ended up being waaay too long. I'm currently doing this same style of info-dump on Dr. Henderson and Dr. Trevino, which I can post later depending on how this one is received

Meet Dr. Paolo Bolognese

bolognese.jpg

Dr. Paolo Bolognese is a neurosurgeon and self described "Top expert in Chairi malformation" located in New York. He was featured on a show called "Medical Mysteries'', is cash pay, a guarantee to diagnose anyone with Chairi malformation + EDS, suggests surgery as the first plan of action (no one ever seems to escape with just 1), etc etc- all of which makes him a munchie's wet dream.

A simple google search of Dr. Bolognese or TCI (the Chiari Institute, now named Chiari EDS Center) + lawsuit produces dozens of results. Reports of malpractice, intentional misdiagnosis for profit, operating on patients that didn't actually have Chairi malformation/ EDS/ instability, sexual harassment, permanent damage, paralysis, and even death spanning over almost 2 decades. Despite lawsuits estimated in the 100's (including a class action lawsuit), Bolognese is still licensed to practice medicine in the state of New York- although not board certified. Reports of purposely misdiagnosing Chairi malformation with the intention of providing tethered spinal cord surgery are most common. It's actually so common that there are reports of an infamous tethered spinal cord scheme. In 2007, he reportedly charged $22,000 for tethered cord surgery. Recent years have rumored reports that he charges up to $150,000 for his series of surgeries to correct Chiari. Further research found lawsuits dating back to 2005 all the way up to the latest suits being filed in 2021.

Popular media reports vary from 20-40 known cases, but other sources rumor there are over 100. I found an overwhelming amount of information. I really tried to edit it down to the most relevant/ important info to avoid making this even longer than it already is. I've attached his most notorious lawsuits, including a link to documents from the NY Department of Health's investigations of Dr. Paolo Bolognese.

-Left a prepped and anesthetized patient on the operating table while he boarded a plane for vacation with his family

-Performed tethered cord surgery on a 4 year old girl (later found to never have had Chairi). In an audio recording taken by the girl's family, he recommends the same surgery to the girl's healthy twin brother "to prevent Chairi malformation from developing". Patient is now permanently disabled

-3 women sued for improper placement of hardware, dissection of neck muscle, and yet again performing unnecessary surgery after an intentional misdiagnosis

To top it all off, Dr. Paolo Bolognese, and the practice he helped create, have had multiple sexual harassment suits filed by former employees. Lol @ his favorite phrase in the OR being "fuck me in the ass"

Documents received via a public records request from the NY Department of Health regarding Dr. Paolo Bolognese- Documents leaked in May 2021, 44 pages of the health department's investigations on Bolognese.
Honorable mention to a quote on page 40-
"This program may represent one of the biggest frauds in the history of modern neurosurgery, of “‘Madoff’-like proportions.”

He even sees patients while vacationing at the Orlando Disney resort. Literally what more could a munchie spoonie princess ask for?

In conclusion, he marks every box on a munchie's doctor shopping checklist. I'm genuinely surprised he still has his license, but money = power in this capitalistic hellhole. Lmk if I should post a similar write up on Dr. Trevino or Dr. Henderson plz. Edited to add spoiler

I wonder how doctors like that manage to practice for years and years, just ruining lives like it's nothing. I've read articles here and there about predatory, dangerous doctors and it's always a struggle to get them outsted from practice, even with irrefutable proof and a high body count.

Why is that? Why is it so hard to get a doctor stripped of privileges when the evidence is so very clear?
